Mutliboxing

pretty simple and took about 4 seconds to google :p

Multi-boxing is a term used mostly in MMORPGs to refer to playing as multiple separate characters simultaneously. ...

lol is it legal and is it ease to setup... kinda limited to sites i browse at work cough

it is legal, but you need multiple accounts to do it:) gets costly, there was a multiboxer on RH last year, 5 elemental shamans..

It is legal yes, as you have to pay for each account you play with (you cannot multibox with just one account, just like you and 10 friends cannot play with just one account).

The idea with multiboxing is that it is not automation (illegal in wow) but it is you controlling 2 or 3 (or 10) characters at once. Takes a lot of skill to master.

You can hardware multibox or software multibox, each have their own pros and cons.

I don't have any links here, but just to make it plain, yes, it is legal, so go for it :)

wel as things stand i got two accounts but im tryna figure out how its works and if its worth it. i also have two pcs at home ... hmmm

easyest form of boxing is 2 toons and you just put one on follow and do all the quests like that

but i thought u cud let them both dps and so on at the same time??

I said easyest :p then there is the macros and addon rout. Best bet for you is 1 good spec'ed pc and some legal programs/addons

log onto account A with 1 PC and then log onto account B with 2nd pc. Choose one of the characters to be the main. Put the other on follow.......then deal with situations where the follow breaks :D

EDIT: get the 2 characters into the same group as well....might help. lol

whit the 2 pc rout your gonna have to buy 2 wireless mouse's/mice (wtf) and 2 wireless keyboards of the same make

I have two mice and keyboards lol i have to fully working pc's and two accounts just never thought of doing this until now :P

Won't gather-quests kind of defeat the purpose of the easy route? If he were to grind it would work. "Kill 20 of those" awesome, but what happens if he has to loot for items they drop?

You can multibox, it is perfectly legal.

There's a program called Keyclone that duplicates key strokes to each instance of WoW. If I remember correctly, the website that has all the info available, teaches you how to set everything up is www.dual-boxing.com.

Also, you can multibox on one PC, provided it's powerful enough. But you'll need 2 + monitors. Basically the "main" char runs full windowed mode on 1 screen, the "slave" chars would be split in 4 quadrants on the second screen.

thanks kuga very usefull

I multiboxed 3 accounts on the same computer with 1 screen, you dont need 2. After some time spent getting used to it I maximised the 'main' and kept the other 2 instances minimised. Eventually you get a feel for it and dont need to check up on it. The first 30 mins or so is hard until you get used to it. There is software and addons that makes it easy and simple.

For software I suggest Keyclone. There is a fee involved, but it is worth it. There is some free options that I tried, but dont regret paying for keyclone.

Addons I recommend is Jamba (automates follow after combat, and helps to turn in quests, automates group invites etc.) and Tourguide. Tourguide has a specific module for RAF multiboxing. It avoids collect quests, which is the bane of multiboxing.

Multiboxing isnt that expensive either. You just need to buy the accounts at R90 these days. Remember that you get a free month gametime, and in that month you should have leveled quite a few teams. Once you have achieved what you want to, you can just transfer the toons to the main account if you dont want to pay multiple monthly subs.

And check out the site Kuga listed. It contains anything you ever wanted to know, and even has a guide on how to write the macros that you will need. The setting up of macros is probably the hardest thing to do.

I dual boxed 3 Locks...it was insane good fun. Didn't use Keyclone as I was a cheapskate, so I used Octopus. I ran 3 instances of WoW on one PC and powerlevelled like a demon. I won a few arenas as well at Lvl 70 3v3, but then guys figured out how to spank multi-boxers. Shelved the project when WotLK came out. The scripting can be a beasty boy to figure out first time around, but once it is set up...very little can stop you. Try it on a PvP server!
