MWEB 10 Mbps uncapped ADSL: Telkom a problem

Telkom dragging its feet again. Why do ipc upgrades take so long?

Good to see mweb being so forthright.

Telkom could learn a few things from them.

Are any of the current legal cases against Telkom to do with IPC pricing?

Isn't this just so typical? "by a lack of capacity from Telkom" Surely Telkom must have known about the capacity issues?

and of course they are waiting to feed EASSy bandwidth into their network as well. Might as well do it all at the same time.

"We need additional IPC capacity to shape you down to what our 4mb uncapped should've been in the first place."

I think MWEB is worried about how much people
on 10MB will download and what their shaper
settings should be. The figures are going to be
staggeringly high and with their increase in
customers and lack of capacity, they just can't
do it.

A 10mb uncapped service that will run at 56k during the day lol

No rush for this, by far the most of the Country still has not got anything near to a 10meg line. Probably will still take a few months/years/decades...who knows with Telkom.

It's really annoying seeing all these comments about MWEB being the culprits here when not one of the posters (probably in their teens with no experience in these things whatsoever) comment and show their real ignorance.

9 times out of 10 it's due to lack of capacity on current infrastructure. But when it's not that it's usually the lack of expertise from Telkom's side to deliver the services in a timeously fashion. Before ADSL we had an issue with the IPC links being used to capacity so we couldn't upgrade our line speed (diginet) at all. When they released ADSL in the area we could get ADSL easy, but the diginet IPC link we had still couldn't be upgraded.

Personally I'd prefer it if they bumped up 384/512k users for free instead of making "the rich richer" by upgrading 4mbps to 10mbps. They could then claim that the average speed across the board is now considered true broadband as set out by ICASA

Well at least we know where we stand with mweb they are being far most open with with is going on that telkom will ever be. It is nice that we are kept informed as to what is going to happen or what the delays are or what is causing the delays. I dont think i could ever afford a 10meg line nor could i afford the 10men uncapped acount , but it would be nice to see how much it would cost. I am sure that mweb would still offer a better package than many others . Some will say we are the first to offer 10meg uncapped , but only once mweb has come to the ball park can we see how the rest shape up.

!0 meg uncapped.... Eish ! some of us (384/512) can only dream of that . Good luck and have fun with those 10meg pipes people!

yes it would be nice to see the min bumped up but also remember we are paying a big premium for our 4mb lines for a service which is far from international standards!!!
