mweb 4 meg speeds

Hi Linoman

Our engineers are looking into your query.

Thanks MWEB, any idea when I will hear some feedback regarding this? When I don't hear anything for over a week, I start to worry.

Anyway you guys organised Telkom and it is not my line.

oh well after being called by mweb this morning, and basically being told that tests were being don with graphs checking how their users D/L on newsgroups, torrents etc meant only one thing we are being shaped badly. I also told the consultant after he told me that they moniter the users and the shaping could get quiet bad that is why your speeds drop. So when i get a max of 23kbs on a 4 meg line at 1 in the morning.

You're right,
It could only get worst with more subscribers. But who can complain for the price you're paying, who would have dreamed of a day where uncapped is this cheap- and even with unshaping it, it's still very affordable.

I thought shaping was like shaping nzb's and torrents and i never knew shaping happens on the line if you know what i mean.

I also had the .3 meg on friday but it came right. I know mweb shape but the entire line? since when?

Shaping is implemented by protocol AFAIK. Email and http are unshaped. P2P, torrents, etc. are shaped. I think certain (P2P) URLs are also shaped.
