MWEB 40Mbps bonded ADSL held back by Telkom

why is our tax funded, overpriced government conglomerate so f@#$%ng useless? heh? this country wants to create 5 million jobs, but can't even organize a 40meg pipe. ffs. im leaving.
 
Even if Telkom did not hold it back, you still wouldn't be able to use it, if it was provided my MWEB - but you sure as hell would have been charged for it.
 
What do you expect from Telkom?????????????? They have launched 10 Mbps but all their operators say they cannot guarantee any speeds. It is time that a business person took over the running of the company with no interference from government.
 
Telkom & for that matter MWeb should rather concern themselves with upgrading 384 / 512 speeds to 1 Meg before worrying about getting 10Meg to 40Meg. 'Baby steps' are called for.
 
I think all of us know by now that when one sees a headline with Telkom in it, nothing good can come out of that [story].
It is as if the Telkom management (and the government) is deliberately f@#cking up telecommunications in the country.
 
Why would Telkom be in a rush to update a network that is being taken away from them in a few months?
 
We got mweb bonded dsl 12mbits. After losts of trouble with telkom, we finally get 12mbit speeds.

Only thing is about a week after we signed the contract with mweb for 12mbit bonded dsl, telkom upgraded our lines to 10mbits.
 
IMO we want cheaper bandwidth at a low contention ration and at a reasonable speed. Doesn't help much having a 40Mbps line and your line is shaped like crazy, probably getting a throughput of only 8Mbps from a 40Mbps line. Lower the contention ratio, lower the bandwidth price and get rid of 384 and 512Kbps speeds. I think i need to tell Trevor, maybe cell c can create a business case and enter the ADSL market space. who knows what may happen, with cell c and mweb stirring the competition in the ADSL market.

This is the same in any country. They can not guarantee speeds, because it is dependent on how far you are from the exchange.

When I was living in London, my one apartment I had a 24mb, but only got 16mb real speeds. Then later I moved to another area, I was so far from the exchange and because of dodgy lines too, I was only getting about 2.3mb/s, even though it was a 24mb account.
 
MWeb : Forget about Telkom's copper lines. If you got the guts then lay FTTH and manage your own fibre Local Loop - independent from Telkom.
