I didn't see much chatter about it today, but everyone I know who has a M-Web ADSL account and uses port 587 for secure email could not use their email. I have clients with hundreds of emails sitting in the Outbox. (Port 587 TLS) Most of these clients use Google Apps for their mailserver.

Is M-Web trying to block or filter secure email traffic?

Anyone else seen this?

Andre

Hi Andre,

Please refer to Will's post here, we did not block or filter secure email traffic.
I haven't yet received any details around this but we'll post an update when have more info. :)

Hi Andre

Definitely no change to the mail policy and Port 587 is the preferred method for connecting to off network smtp servers. As per the posts MWEB Guy linked there was an upstream routing issue with Google peering yesterday which affected us and other ISPs.

As I understand it this was resolved yesterday afternoon so everything should be back to normal. Please let us know if any of your clients are still having a problem.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Some clients reported some emails going out, but the majority say it was worse today. We need to sort this out asap or I'm going to have clients leaving M-Web ADSL.

Emails go out on a test IS ADSL account...

Looks normal,i'm interested in a telnet log of the connection session though :)

The TELNET, will as you say provide quite a eye opener for the client.
All SMTP traffic will be rerouted.
Will post a sample of my home TELNET in a few (have my own SMTP as well)

**Edit
Interestingly enough, GMAIL does not seem to be intercepted by the relay servers..

Port 587 submissions are not redirected on both home and business uncapped accounts and is recommended for use with private(authenticated) SMTP sessions
