MWEB ADSL DNS issues being resolved

use a dns bench to test, but add a few local ones to the mix as well. I use my isp's, then mtn, then google then mwebs. I find 8.8.4.4 to be faster dns dns me.

It is not always a good idea to use google's 8.8.8.8 here locally.

First of all, cause it is slow:
64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: icmp_req=2 ttl=42 time=278 ms

Compared to:
64 bytes from 196.41.0.10: icmp_req=4 ttl=51 time=62.9 ms

But also, you wont get local content. Like google using 8.8.8.8 may go to an international server where using a local dns server will resolve to a locally hosted google site.

Could someone please explain where and how to change your DNS settings?

Nonsense, we were not contacted despite being an Mweb Business client. We had to log a call with Mweb, they did not let us know at any stage that they were having issues. I actually sent them the link to the previous MyBB article asking them for clarity!

GDNS is king.
GoogleDNS and OpenDNS are both a bad idea. It's the best way to give yourself a poor internet experience.

About 30% of the sites you visit will use geo-location. This redirects you to the server cluster that is closest to your DNS resolver. This means that if you use a DNS server overseas then at least 30% of the websites you visit will have latency that is 5-10 times higher than it should be.

and if most of the sites you visit are overseas? I started using OpenDNS 'cos it seems to give a better PS3 (PSN / Store) experience.
