I understand that. However, I also appreciate honesty from the provider. If their ads say "download as much as you want" and their CEO says "we won't be phoning people" and now we see that it is pure downloading - Browser did not cheat with massive amounts of VPN traffic - I think that is unfair. I want them to be honest and say what their limits are - like that American ISP which is charging people extra for going over 250GB. I would accept 250GB or even 200GB as fair on MWEB Uncapped R899 product - but they should confirm so.
They also seem to ban for using MegaUpload because apparently it can automatically bypass their flimsy shaping. Why should that be the user's concern? What if you use a less known file host like FileServ which is therefore unshaped? Will they ban you then, because they haven't added it to their list? What if you download DRM'ed TV shows at 350MB each from European TV show providers in a foreign language? Will they ban you too?

You mean before SEACOM, Mweb would still be raping their dying client base if they never saw an opportunity with Seacom.

I also agree that mweb should just come out and say 200gb is fair usage or something, i think though during the day they cannot have everyone downloading full speed or we all suffer perhaps.

That is a good point. However, MWEB did get the ball rolling although there were UNCAPPED EXPRESS+ accounts from AXXESS too.

Yea but those were what 999 plus 450 for your line roughly 1.4k which is a bit much for most. Also that account was crippled during the day.
But that was a major improvement from R199 per GB we started off before SEACOM.

Afrihost were the first to bring cheap bandwith, they are a small company though and could not compete with Mweb's uncapped, Mweb has a history of killing off the smaller competitors.

EASSY won't ease IPConnect but maybe it will allow other providers to drop prices too.
all the double talk and dishonesty on mwebs part is sickening, they say only people that contravene the fup and bypass shaping will be cut but it seems some are cut simply from high usage... we should at least get a warning.

The real issue is that I dont think Mweb realised that there shaped uncapped product would generate so much usage. And now they are probably losing money over it because people have found ways to getting around the shaping. So it's either upgrade to a higher package or get lost.
The higher package costs a lot more though and has the SAME T&C.
i dont mind people being cut for bypassing shaping by using vpns or other such services but they shouldn't cut people for using alot of data on an UNCAPPED plan, in my opinion 300-500gb on an uncapped plan such as mwebs is not unreasonable at all, theres no alternative because the business package is simply too expensive.
They said it was uncapped. So people download whatever they want, most stuff prolly which they won't even use. Now if they said that it was a HIGH CAP account, then your mom and pop's would be satisfied because they'd never reach the limit anyway and those who were on the verge of that would just cut down or buy more GBs.
They should call it a 200GB HIGH CAP account. Keep Addict as UNCAPPED. For all intents and purposes, for most users 200GB is UNCAPPED. For those who DL 24/7 they'd run dry and have to buy top ups or just wouldn't pump the account dry. I think R899 is a fair price for a 200GB 4Mbit account with line rental. They could still shape the account during the day and most of the time if they wanted to.
