Just wanted to post this...
I noticed recently I could not e-mail a friend using the return e-mail as a GMail account on MWEB.
I contacted MWeb and got the following response.

A few months ago, there was excessive misuse of our network by spammers. These spammers used MWEB e-mail addresses in the FROM field of the message and forged hotmail/gmail/yahoo (freemail mailboxes) e-mail addresses into the Return Path or Reply field.
" 550 'Reply-to' domain matches FreeMail service used by spammers "

This is the main reason the abovementioned filter is active on our platform and cannot be disabled since allowing spammers to misuse our network would result in listings with various RBLs.

Please ensure the Reply-To field of outgoing messages is inline with the MWEB Account being used.
Just an after thought. So the spammers was on the MWEB network as you can't SMTP from the internet. eg... They had a MWeb ADSL account.

If MWeb block to other domain I use when sending mails, I will see this as a suspension of my service without notice as I use the other domain primarily when sending e-mails to friends. I would then need to switch to another ISP. I'm a bit fearfull to state the domain because of the above.

I'm actually surprised that they allow you to send E-mails from their SMTP servers with the FROM field being something other than @mweb.co.za ! You really shouldn't think that an ISP should allow you to do this in the first place.

If you want to send from an @gmail.com address, just use the G-Mail SMTP servers instead...

Good - those domains have cause me nothing but frustration on our work address since January. I don't understand though - why are you using a gmail account when you are with MWEB? Don't you have an @mweb.co.za address?
