I have 2 MTN numbers , neither will connect via VoWiFi to MTN ( no network displayed while on flight mode on my iPhone ) , my Vodacom number works without any issues

I tested the same 2 numbers on a friends Wifi network, Telkom , both numbers instantly displayed the - WiFi logo and could make and receive calls via VoWifi.

Anyone else here with a similar experience or suggestion other than moving to a different ISP

This is a known problem with MTN VoWIFI, they seem to only allow VoWIFI on certain ISP's networks and block it on others. There's not much you can do except change to a different cellphone provider that's implemented VoWIFI properly or use a different ISP that hasn't been blocked by MTN.

What puzzles me is MWeb offers LTE deals using MTN , why would MTN block MWeb.

What puzzles me is why are they blocking VoWIFI on any network at all. My wife is with Vodacom and I'm with MTN and it continually surprises me how many time we're on the same WIFI network and her Vodacom VoWIFI works perfectly fine, and MTN's VoWIFI is just dead. I've even Wiresharked it to see what's happening and it's clear that MTN's VoWIFI servers just full on block any attempts to establish an IPSEC tunnel from that network.

It's come to the point now where I'm planning on moving to Vodacom very soon because I'm often left without signal because of MTN's crappy VoWIFI.

@Jan @rpm , any chance you guys can press MTN and MWeb for answers

Can i suggest everyone log a query with MTN's Coverage department, (083) 900-1212 , not a free call from a MTN sim.

I have logged queries both with MTN and MWeb.

I'm not sure what's going on, MTN-WiFi appeared briefly in Flight mode. After exiting and re entering Flight mode again
No MTN -WiFi

No MTN -WiFi

Check your connection priority, you can set priority for VoLTE or VoWi-Fi

An ISP has to get MTN to whitelist their IP Subnet's used/handed out to CPE devices/clients.
I had to jump through hoops, to get MTN to whitelist my Subnet's for my Clients to be able to use MTN WiFi Calling.
Vodacom, Cell C and Telkom don't block any subnet's or have a 'Whitelist' for VoWiFi
