MWEB capped ADSL upgrades are not planned

No 4meg, no 10meg, and now no capped discounts despite an instant 30% savings on your biggest cost?

You'd better make your uncapped unshaped if you're to have us believe you're absorbing the discount for our benefit, else you're just predatory like the Mweb we used to know.

I am with Derek on this. With a 1 Meg uncapped account now only R199 why subject yourself to an arbitrary capped limit to save a big Mac per month.

I haven't ever looked at the capped pricing so went now and it's not badly prices with 1GB coming in at R29 and 10GB at R190 which includes 300min wifi and 10GB local only.

Thanks for the heads-up MWeb. I like capped as I believe I get better speeds and I was waiting for an adjustment, but now realise I must look elsewhere, starting today.

True. We need to reach a stage where everyone can afford uncapped.(very soon) Capped accounts (prepaid) should be reserved for visitors to this country.

I think anyone that stays with Mweb no matter what, needs to seriously look at what they're getting for their money. So far I ahve found nothing better than Afrihost's capped and uncapped options. The capped offerings are totally unshaped - none of the video streaming issues I used to have whenI was with Mweb.

I (along with other people I know) had endless issues with Afrihost uncapped.
If you're looking for a capped product, then by all means go for Afrihost or something similar, but I, along with a lot of other people, are very happy with the uncapped product offered by Mweb.

Agreed .. everyone I know that was with Afrihost or WebAfrica has ended up with Mweb. Openweb seems it's luck of the draw - sometimes you get an account that works incredibly well, and sometimes they give you account after account that's just poo. And the less said about the IS uncapped accounts that people re-sell, the better.

Mweb does have wobblies now and then (past 2 days it was erratic in the evenings) - all providers do - but then today I pulled down a whole bunch of stuff from astraweb (Linux ISOs, obviously) at 4mbit fullspeed all day during working hours, so whatever they were doing, they fixed it!

+1 to that

with my 4mb uncapped mweb account (which performs at between 5mb & 6mb on my 10mb line), newgroups and torrents exceed my expectations during the day, and are phenomenal at night

I am with the other guys on this one, my streaming and video downloads run MUCH better on MWEB than on Afrihost and I don't get the pesky IS warnings. I tend to find the Afrihost (uncapped) streaming very patchy and have had more sensitive ones cut out on a 2.8Mbps line. MWEB, super solid, no issues and good speeds.

I am very interested to see what Afrihost's performance will be line when they get their own IPC.
