mweb down international

You don't have to. So please proceed to cancel your account and give us your bandwidth.

well i have an Vodacom Uncapped account to they are not down for that past year i was with vodacom it was of like 5 hours in total, been with mweb for like 4 days and its allready off for more than 5 hours, why in the Sh*t holle must i pay all most R3000 for this crap? explain that to me?

I'd just as pissed if I was on mweb business account.

When's the backup bandwidth gonna kick in? Agonizingly slow international is better than no international :(

Any why are local connections so slow?

There seems to be very little backup international bandwidth for MWeb home users (less than R2000pm). The SAT-3 bandwidth is almost all used up by higher priority users during the daytime, and the remainder is shaped to death...

I've had no problems with local sites, but there may be congestion on certain routes.

You aren't one of those who use Google international DNS perhaps (8.8.8.8)?

Edit: I always forget, local pages with banner adverts may fail to load properly...

As far as I can recall, Vodacom Business runs direct links to UK and US, not having to rely on another local ISP for bandwidth. VB's access is just a bit pricey for the "normal oke" out there, but then again, you PAY for the QUALITY you get there.

22 posts on this thread before the network status page got updated. I rest my case...

Humour is the only response in this kind of situation...

And some Red Wine to help the humour along .. Haha ... Nothing much we can do, but just sit and wait ... been internetless since Friday already ....

My International MWeb is also down. I have work that needs to be submitted by end-of-day on an international server...

I have a USB Modem and Vodacom 3G account as backup for these occasions and from earlier posts it seems this is still working. I normally use a top-up for this, but have not had the need for this in the last 6 months. Does anybody here know how long the top-up lasts these days? It used to be 30-days but I have heard rumors it is longer now.

Thanks

mweb is really starting to grind me, also got work to do.

It's not like it's their fault that SEACOM fails. It is their fault however for not having backup bandwidth in place fast enough.

well the VB account are R200 cheaper than the Mweb one so i will stick to vodacom then using Mweb that are off more, and less stress on the business and me...

I thought is was to good to be true. The euphoria did not last long. I wounder how long this is going to take, by the looks of it, days?

No work, no pay!

Also got plans that must be submitted today!

Didn't need it at all last month and was even considering binning it, but today it is TI to the rescue.

Axxess is down too, and I don't think they have any SAT3 backup.

International connectivity down at present - multiple ISP's affected
There's a problem on the Seacom cable - engineers are investigating. No ETR at present.

Nope, use MWeb DNS. Maybe it's just MyBroadband that's slow.

Let's hope that at least some International bandwidth can be found, particularly if the outage lasts for much longer.

Seems to be back up after I reset my modem, but it goes through telkom and I have about 10% dropped packets, so it is probably the backup link...

From the facebook page
Mweb Guy The outage on our international bandwidth is going to take a couple of days to repair, it’s obviously a fairly serious break judging by the number of ISP’s that have been affected. We’ve managed to find alternative capacity and with immediate effect our customers will be able to connect via the SAIX network. You just n...eed to power down your router, give it a few minutes and then reconnect. In order to properly manage the additional traffic on the SAIX network, we will not be able to accommodate any bandwidth-heavy protocols like P2P until our own international bandwidth is back on stream. Protocols like e-mail, browsing and Internet banking will work as per normal. Thank you for your patience, we’ll keep you updated with any new developments.
