MWEB explains transit link cuts

“Fact is MWEB will peer with any ISP big or small at no cost. It is however each party's responsibility to get to the peering point. "

So, they want other ISPs to pay to get to MWEB POP, yet they say its free. What a shame!

If you in financial trouble, deal with it, don't try and bring everyone down with you.

I assume you mean JINX/CINX? The meeting places for ALL ISP's in SA! Well except Telkom, they are "special".

Routing tables do not significantly affect networks

Good luck to M-web on this project, I hope it delivers tangible outcomes for consumers at the end of the day.

Hahaha. Dear Mr Kgokgo. Please go back to your bosses at MTN/Vodacom/Telkom and tell them that the MyBB community are not stupid. You registered on this forum only today, and your first post is to diss MWEB, with little to no clue what you are talking about.

The peering point could also be CINX/JINX.

+1

I see now that it means peering free the web.
No offensive taken anymore.

While in this case it means Free The Web, FTW usually means "For the Win". ;)

I think it's taken from some game show, but I'm not entirely sure of its origin.

I don't see any breaks yet (telkom.co.za from MWeb). The original article was dated 1 Nov, but this thread was started at 10am on 2 Nov. Do we expect any disruption, or will Telkom chicken and not cut the links yet?

I
Where are your 'most' users? Seems 'most' users aren't getting good speeds.

Well, MWEB has 100K+ subscribers. Seeing that only the people who have trouble complain about it, It looks like the overwhelming magority of subscribers don't have any issues. That would include me. I have no complaints about the speeds since they upgraded in Oct.

MWEB Co-opted "For the Win" to their "Free the Web" mantra. Either way it isn't offensive unless FTW has some meaning other than that?

I'm happy for you - that however doesn't solve our problems - and I'm pretty sure they don't have 100K+ subscribers on 4MB uncapped.

Kgokgo - go play in the rain outside, your brain is leaking

Guys - any ideas how this will affect the upcoming launch of Local XBox Live servers in ZA?
At the moment the Live servers are in the UK = when they put the local LIVE server online on the 10th November - will this mean as an MWEB subscriber, I will have to connect internationally to a local sever and thereby have a lot more lag? If that is the case - I may as well stay on the LIVE UK servers.

Depends on which network microsoft decides to host the servers
