Checked my Mweb cap allowance this morning.Mweb only credited me with 3 GB not 5 Gb as promised.I am on the R299.00 per month offering. My telephone is via telkom.

haha... Mweb FAIL!

Even with the extra gigs they are still more expensive than all the other ISPs... why would you actually want to use them? I don't get it?

Me as well, I only got 3 Gigs instead of the 5 Gig.

And Garyvdh, I use Mweb because they are stable. I never have connection issues like the smaller cheaper ISP's

There must be something wrong with your line then, I would contact Telkom. I have never had stability issues with the other ISPs.... and have saved a hundred bucks or more every month by not using M-Web.

M-Web also don't give a toss about their users... see the link in my sig to see how they treated us after the whole local bandwidth debacle.

I will never trust them again.

I would encourage you to try the 'smaller' ISP's again.
Webafrica and Axxess are tried and tested by a huge community.

Dont pay a premium, just because they have good marketing.

+1

I use both above mentioned and have zero hassles.

Can't comment on Mweb service except to say I share Gary's barge pole concept on this one.

Same here:(:( Should have 7.5 gigs.

Gary, we all know your opinion with Mweb mate - Give us some info on what you know about prices happening this year. Give us some inside mate;) You our last hope.

The rumour is that Telkom will be bumping up speeds and caps again in October this year. This has been confirmed by several people talking to Telkom techies and people on the inside. It is necessary for three reasons...

1) To keep Telkom competitive with Seacom.
2) To provide for upcoming technologies like IP TV.
3) To stay in line with international bandwidth growth trends.

Besides that, there have been indications for some time now that a price war is looming in the bandwidth arena. As more and ISPs bring Seacom bandwidth to the market others will respond by trimming their margins. That much is inevitable. My guess was that we would see it before the year's end, but some are predicting we will only see it in January.

My guess is that the improvements will not be so much in the form of price drops as in package and bundle and cap increases. That way the ISPs can maintain their current income levels and use price decreases to fund product innovation and growth.

^^ Thanks mate, interesting stuff - i have also been thinking along those lines. I am also predicting October/November. I hope i am not wrong.

Exactly, and that's just fine with me. I don't mind value for money, something we've not yet experienced.
I have the same usage issue on my mweb business account, still showing 3gig. Hopefully its an issue with their website not being updated with the new values yet.

STill only 1GB here where is the 2GB promised to us? Even the email lied then?

I am a Mweb user and will be looking to change probably next year, hopefully the market will be more competitive by then. It is true that they do not care about current clients, they are only interested in signing up new business. My cap is also showing 3gig

Hi Guys,

The cap updates are still in progress. Its a mammoth task that could only start today at 0h00, so as not to interfere with last month's usage.

There are many systems involved and much data cross-checking required to ensure accuracy. It is estimated to be complete by weeks end, however may extend into next week.

MWB

In other words don't go burning your current allocation prior to the weekend.Phones daughter to get off the PC and to stop downloading music at once.

So would now be a good time to sign up with mweb? Does the price include ADSL line rental, and the modem?

Is their shaped offering fine for local gaming?
