MWEB Gaming Feedback

Just an update - still running with MTU of 960 but playing around in WoW this evening had some decent pings in the 600ms area. Gameplay wasn't too bad, a bit spiky here and there and even did some battlegrounds without much issue (except the fact that I suck at PvP and dont have any pvp gear!!)

Now I remember why I used to play ranged classes for PvP, melee with latency disadvantage is meh! :P

Still, things are looking up but I don't have much trust for a raid situation just yet, but will test it out tomorrow night just to see if it is possible.

Marine those are what you can expect at the moment if you are referring to SGS servers as we don't have a peering arrangement with SAIX, pings to igame are good and to WAGE if you are in Cape Town.

@DCBloodHound, that doesn't sound right - my server browser shows igame pings of 35-45ms. The scoreboard in game usually shows me around the 100-120 mark and gameplay feels very smooth.
Can you show us a trace to one of the igame servers?

Someone didn't take their medication,u sure you aren't playing on international servers or that your line might not have been upgraded.

maybe post a tracert instead of barking like a dog.

its fine, HoN wont suffer... :?

oh and ever thought that u spike cause people on ur line are surfing/browsing?

gotta love MWEB this weekend, HTTP downloads 40 kb/s on a 4 meg line, torrents, 10 kb/s, and wow and other games 2k ping and climbing......guess the 500 bucks i am paying for this service is for them to wipe their bums coz i dont see any progress on this issue...................

but then again way to go.....paying 500 bucks for browsing......really cool yay i can brows..........

wish that mweb will just do something about this other than "test is being run this weekend" or "we are looking into this issue"

i could stream 720p on youtube by just clicking play and i did not have to pause and wait 20 minutes on a 7 minute movie but now its all S%^&..........love you guys mweb, your slogan should be "we take money and do F^&*%^ to sort out problems"

First off make sure that you actually still HAVE a 4mb line, maybe telkom ****ed you over?

Second, have you tried the reduce your lag proxy?

Really ? You going to tell me i need to make sure I have a 4 MB line........

I have a 4mb line and I already checked by telkom if there is any issues...there is none

secondly I have tried everything that was posted here and nothing work for me, I can play COD and ....wait that is it, nothing else but hey you want to get technical with "you sure you have a 4mb line?"

my line quality is good and nothing wrong with it, just like it has been for 2 years now, I am 600 meters away from the exchange which is not even congested or anything. When I first joined Mweb the quality and service was exceptional, no were could I find any ISP that good anywhere, but now......

again when i joined Mweb i had NO issues and then it just deteriorated......

Well yes, it's allways nice to work with the process of elimination, next up make sure you're actual line is in good condition. Like for instance I used to have a line that went right under a door. The continuous opening and closing of the door kept on rubbing the wires together which messed up my line speeds completely.

Seriously though, It's most likely something at your end.

Yes i found the issue on my end....

When log onto my router and go to basic setup, then put in a OpenWeb Account my issues are gone....so i guess you were right, it is on my end........

./end sarcasm

Could you please just kindly leave this thread. Your not helping at all. Please just leave, your upsetting people with real issues. It might seem like your giving advice but your not (your actually trolling and you know it). Just leave this thread pretty please.

On topic: Any news at all about the wow fix? 22 days till new expansion. People actually need an answer very soon now Will, so we can cancel our accounts or sign up / buy other accounts.

So Will@Mweb, how did the weekend tests go? Any feedback? I remember a while ago in this thread you mentioned that the World of Warcraft lag is being caused by the WoW packet signitures changing, and that your network equipment does not have the updated signitures yet from the vendor. Is that correct? Another question, cant you create your own signitures for wow traffic for your network equipment?

Just a thought.

Hi Will, while I do appreciate the work that you and the MWEB team are doing to get things up to scratch for us gamers it unfortunately seems that things are getting progressively worse.

Using MWEB on Friday my average ping was in excess of 4500ms so I just gave up on that eventually and decided to play Starcraft 2 instead. This needed to be updated and I left it running through the night only to check it on Saturday morning to find it ticking along at a wonderful 0.01kb/s. Cancelled it, rebooted and started the update again. When I got home again on Saturday night it was more of the same, WoW in excess of 4500ms and Starcraft updating at 0.01kb/s. So I decided to try something different and loaded the Starcraft updates into uTorrent to see if it wasn't the updater...checked on Sunday morning and once again the same story 0.01kb/s...

So I switched over to my Axxess account: WoW was played for the balance of Sunday at a ping of 290ms and Starcraft 2 updated within 15 minutes...

Piet please confirm - if my memory serves me correctly you are in Cape Town?

Hi Beanbag

We tried this and a number other angles, without success. We are now working closely with the suppliers of our traffic management solution to try and isolate the cause of the problem, I will update you guys as soon as there is any progress.

Kind Regards
Will

So you have confirmed that it is your traffic management equipment that is at fault? Did you remove the traffic management equipment from the route that WoW traffic takes?

Arzy , the WoW situation aside the other two don't make any sense to me. I tested the Starcraft update myself after someone mentioned it on Thursday, or Friday. it was a 12mb update that took about 2 minutes for me.

My torrent tests yesterday were comfortably getting above 200k on well seeded files.

As a point of interest one my staff recently moved onto a 4mb line and his overall experience is almost the exact opposite of mine. Torrents are slow, http downloads are slow and the overall experience is not great. We have checked our accounts and they are identical, his line has decent readings and appears to be in good condition, so the only factor left that separates the two of us is the exchange we are connecting through.
