MWEB Gaming Feedback

My guy checked in with some guildmates and they say it's a general issue with the area. PVP is my favorite part of the game, but then again I'm old school - my first MMO was Ultima Online, where getting killed by another player often resulted in having to round up a hunting party of guildmates to track them down and get your stuff back :D

Its looking decent so far, ping used to jump up in TB, now it looks pretty stable.

@Mweb ....

I have two PC's on my lan at home both connected to my router for internet access. Both are similar in spec (Q6600 cpu's, one has Nvidia GPU the Other an ATi). We can both play COD Black Ops at the same time no problem with the 4mb uncapped package. But on my PC I get disconnected regularly as well as communication interruptions. Is this a network issue or is it still a Black Ops Fail??

Server_Unavailable.jpg

The other PC will still be online, playing just fine when I see this. Its flippin irritating, considering the fact that the other PC is still connected, I therefore know the server is not down.

And right now 11H00 there is no steam connection. Also I checked a few web sites, and could not open speedtest.net.

Edit: 11H15 can connect to steam but gives the following error:

Steam_Error.jpg

Also Speedtest.net opens again. This has to be an Mweb issue!

Edit: 11:20 I can now connect to Black Ops, and even do admin with the Rcon tool for my server, but in game there are no SA servers on the server list???

Hi IRG.

We're currently experiencing a network problem which our engineers are attending to urgently. It does sound as if your problem may be on the local network somehow, there should not be any issue with two users playing Blackops over the same 4mb connection.

black ops does randomly disconnect , just the damn game, nothing you can do about it, happens to everyone now and then.

there is international problem atm, with the network , so yeah you wont be able to connect

Hey Will (and Mweb),

been running WoW for more than a week now without any issues, even with torrents running, my in-game latency is sub 400ms.
A BIG thank you for all that you've done to assist with the WoW issue!

Regards,
Jovs.

Glad to hear that Jovs. I'd also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all of you for sticking it out through this very frustrating issue. Also I'd like to make note of the fact that after over two years of being WoW free I am now 'testing' on a regular basis, so thanks for that as well :p

I will be taking some leave from Monday. I'm sure my team will take good care of you in my absence, but I will most likely peek in from time to time, even if it's just to say ding :D

Have a safe New Years Eve everyone :)

Happy New Year to you Will, enjoy your long deserved break!

I have been quite satisfied with the move to the SAT3 Cable for Cape Town users, I have never had better performance for WoW in my life! Thanks MWEB and Will!

Already today I have restarted recommending MWEB for a customer in my store as he is looking at a gaming package for his FPS games. I should get kickbacks for this lol :P

Keep it up guys!

Thanks Steven, that's great feedback. I have been holding my breath for the last couple of weeks on few other treats we have in store for you guys as well. For those of you who use Steam you may have noticed recently that you are connecting to a server somewhat closer to home, Valve are still ironing out the kinks for us and completing the content deployment, which is why we haven't kicked up a fuss yet, but they are for all intents and purposes operational :) we should have some other surprises for you as well, hopefully very early in January.

Awesome! Now I just need to download the client update without bogging out  Not your fault MWeb, international issue amongst some users which Steam seem to be ignoring. There is an elaborate fix so better get going on that to check out this server ;)

Hi Will,

Just read throught he last 50ish pages regarding lag in World of Warcraft.
I'm currently using 4megabit uncapped mweb in jhb.

I'm unable to load any of my characters in WoW atm, when i do manage to log in i'm looking at a ping ranging from 10000ms-20000ms.
I've logged on using a 512 Telkom connection and it runs fine, so it looks like the problem is on my mweb side.

Is anybody else experiencing the same? Is this something that you are currently aware of jhb-side?

I don't play WoW but I do play LOTRO and the past two weeks has been great, however from yesterday latencies has gone up again on mweb and is unplayable. I tried out Axxess and there was no problem there. Kinda ridiculous that I need to pay for another account just to be able to play online games.

i'm still having an issue, after reading some of these posts, i turned my router's mtu back to auto (1500) and my lag was back , around 4000- 5000

put my mtu back to 750 and i get sub 400 latency

Capetown Muizenberg

I'm not a gamer, but I just noticed some horrible latency (and lost packets) on MWeb CT-London SAT-3 international peering. I posted tracert on the Uncapped Thread. Problem seems to come and go...

Eastern Cape just stopped routing through SAT-3 as far as i can see, at exactly 11:45 tonight. Pinging to bbc.co.uk now gives 290 again instead of 190. Logging into wow takes ages again and the latency when you finally get in is HORRIBLE again.

At least it lasted one week. Would really like to get feedback from Will or some mweb guys about this now.

Btw, see will, judging from the last 4-5 posts its not just me.

Edit: It switched again at 2:30 am exactly, back to SAT-3 it seems. Will have to test wow again tomorrow just to be sure.

Edit 2: at 6:20am it switched back to 500 ms to international.

Edit 3: Back to 190ish average ms at 11:05 am. Dunno whats going on tbh :(

Yeah I had the disconnect at 11:45 last night as well, thought it was strange.

Connected now, latency in the red (2500ms and decreased down to 900ms), seems responsive though.

MEH! We just started raiding last night, last thing I need is more latency! Fortunately I still have accounts knocking about, hopefully this isn't another 3 month issue!
