MWEB Gaming Feedback

Anyone with a WTFast account that is still having issues with lag spikes or connection issues, please send a message to [email protected] with your WTFast account name and we will upgrade you to WTFast Advanced so you can try different ports to help deal with the traffic shaping. Other MWEB users have had success by doing this.

Awesome. :D

It's called remote administration.... Welcome to the 21st century and the age of the Internet...
The company I work for has multiple international ventures, and it's all PRIMARILY managed from here. Yes there are technicians etc in each country, but 99% of the problem resolution and investigation is done locally.

Please post constructive posts, and stop with the complaints. Will has stated that MWeb are looking into the issue, and at this stage, bitching and moaning is not going to make things happen any faster.
Really, and its okay to wait days for a problem to be fixed. I work for a large corporation and when our system goes down it is fixed. And it is fixed fast or our ISP knows we will move our account. Its very simple and easy to understand.

Obviously my home computer and game preferences are not dictated by company policy and I do not even use the same service provider. I am well aware I am a small cog in the MWEB machine.
So that being said I clearly understand big business comes first, but this is the MWEB Gaming feedback thread and as such complaining when your game disconnects repeatedly is to be expected.
Is it constructive, hell I do not know or care. It's the only avenue I have other than dumping MWEB.

In marketing you should be worried not when people complain about poor services but when you have fixed nothing and they stop complaining anyway. Because that means they have left and moved to another supplier.
So I will keep complaining and pointing to the obvious - The London Node is the problem.

I like both these posts - said what I wanted to - in much better language :)

The question is fix what? This is what MWeb are trying to determine. If all is broken, it's easier to isolate a protential problem. When some things work, and others don't through the same system, you need to figure out why.

Fair enough.

In all honesty I think MWeb also probably agree with that assumption, but unless they know WHAT'S wrong, they can't really fix it, can they?

Oh get off it, they are looking into the problem, what do you expect? 2 Hour turnaround time?

Erm Nookie, I dont know if you have been reading the same forums... but this has been going on allot longer than "2 hours"...

I have not used MWEB for gaming more than a month now...

Stil dont understand the mentality... of flaming someone for complaining about service...

... Paying for Unshaped Uncapped comes at a premium is there something wrong to expect Premium service?

So... if I do this and it works does it mean my UNSHAPED account is being shaped?

Cause there seems to be no Issues using it on Web Africa...

No, I was referring to the latest problems with MWEB that has been happening for the past couple days. What do you expect them to do? They are looking into the problem and complaining about it won't make it go faster.

Now if you have been unable to play games on an unshaped product for the past month then that would be quite understandable.

Logged an ADSL fault with Telkom and they called me, seams there's a problem at my exchange which maybe affecting my connection. I was a bit taken back when I actually got a call from the technician :)

Actually in my experience complaining and making the complaints visible to all does make things go quicker...
Saying give them a break... lets them go on a break.

Let MWEB's poor service be on a News24 Article and I promise you something will be done allot quicker than us complaining on a forum...

Honestly nothing I'm aware of that should have had a significant impact on this service has changed. We have had customers raise concerns about the news service in the past and our engineers have done their best to provide a reasonable experience accessing the MWEB news server, bearing in mind that this is a free value add service which we make available to our customers and that maintaining a Usenet feed with full binary access requires a significant commitment of resources.

Regarding the advertising of the service, we don't make any distinctions regarding speeds on different protocols, however the service is clearly advertised as shaped which means that you can expect that traffic which is not given priority will not run at line speeds on a constant basis. If you require full speed P2P type activities (which includes NNTP) then you need to consider moving to an unshaped product.

Still no word on the NNTP service going down the toilet in the last week. It was always fine so its not normal Will.

Oh yeh and its funny guize, remember my statements about that they should rename their uncapped, then i got this response? WELL. I think i was right, at least you can admit that now Will, after this:
"The ASA rules that MWEB’s uncapped broadband advertisement is misleading, as it appears “ex facie that the service is not ‘uncapped’ as claimed and understood by the hypothetical reasonable person”.
The ASA ordered MWEB to remove their ‘uncapped’ claim, and not use it again in its current format unless they “provide an uncapped service”.

So, after that, its pretty clear.

FYI, im posting this out of spite cause im getting very upset about the NNTP connection. 1 week now of horrible speeds. Point and fact. ITS NOT NORMAL. Its been going full speed since i joined mweb. Its not just mweb news server, others going slow as well. So its the NNTP connection being shaped.

Any news or am i gonna have to fight for months again like with the wow issue before it even gets agreed apon that its a problem?

Would this WTFAST do anything for Black Ops ?
I highly doubt it as far as I know WTFast does not have a server in South Africa so you would be routed through the nearest one which should be London.

That makes sense ... so u guys dont get much better that a 250ms ping then if its going that way....

I have got an mweb sponsored wtfast account, and have sent an email to ask to have the account upgraded to advanced. My question is: Can I have it upgraded to 2 users as my wife and I play the same online games together at the same time and only 1 pc is currently allowed on the account.

Hi Rohan

Just ask for a second key under your wife's email address :)

Hi Everyone

In case you haven't noticed for those of you fortunate enough to be gaming at this time on a Friday afternoon, the WoW login servers are currently down.

When is the ISSUE going to be addressed? It should be obvious by now even to a moron that something is wrong. Its like a running joke we are talking to our upstream providers, technicians are investigating all possibilities...
Are you guys running for political office? Because if ever we had to listen to excuse-ism this is it.
MWEB's international connects have gone haywire and considering local peering is sometimes routed via international, your entire network is compromised.
Now does it take a rocket scientist to figure out the problem? Err
Hint, all our traffic is routed through London

Hi guys

Our engineers have been working literally around the clock to try and get to the bottom of this and they have full support and hands on assistance from product vendors on all of the equipment being looked at. I believe that there has been some improvement and I'm certainly seeing a reduction in the level of complaints today, unfortunately WoW servers are currently down, however perhaps I can get some feedback from some of the other MMO players as to their current situation?

Hi Will. On the age of Conan front, latency is still around 4k at the moment with or without the wtfast account. Im still waiting for WTFast to upgrade me to the advanced account so that I can try different ports. Lord of the Rings online has the same issues, checked with my wife's pc.
