MWEB Gaming Feedback

Does WTFast work with WoW EU PTR realm ? as currently my guilds testing it. but my latency for it is INSANE and i gotta play using my webafrica account. but i cant use my mweb WTFast account due to the IP being restricted to ONLY mweb account.

Thanks for linking this here Mephisto.

They should be made aware that its not just a problem for people playing the games, but also the people putting thier money into hosting them as well.

I get the feeling gamers are seen as an afterthought but in reality we are the biggest users of the internet in SA. Screw checking your emails, googling lol cats and midget porn. I think its safe to assume the vast majority of people with uncapped mweb accounts are gamers..
 
I'm a bit unsure of Mweb myself the3se days, the last week I've been using my Afrihost account mostly. Hoping there will be a turn around for Mweb before I move flats, because I might be looking at different options then. I will give Mweb a fair chance though

Mainly saying this because I do a lot of online gaming.

Mweb are setting up their own local game servers via fast international links AFAIK. How are you setting up yours, how will it work? Are you purchasing International hosted servers and expect to get gamers to join, I presume for payment, via Mweb uncapped?

I am renting the server through gameservers.com. They are using Mweb as their hosting provider in South Africa. Once a server is ordered, the server files are loaded onto the server accross highspeed international links as you say. They are not "Mweb's server" though, they just provide the server space and backbone connection. The problem here is that because mweb's internal network and routing is so broken at the moment gameservers.com can't load the files onto the server. The server is local, support 24 players and i am hosting it for free of course. :-)

That was my general experience with it too. I would have liked to have seen an improvement but all it does is make it worse. Also after disabling it I find the latency still hovers in the thousands as well.
 
Okay my Rise of Flight issue is solved, that is if I use another service provider. just did a test and on their service I connect and can play without any problems.
the moment i switch back to Mweb it disconnects the instantt you join a server.
This is not a lag issue or a latency issue, this is a simple hard disconnect by mweb of the game servers which makes there claim they do not shape their uncapped service a joke.
I am extremely dissappointed to say the least. Something that was working is now not and has not been working for the last week or so.
I do not need to be told engineers are entering ports or protocols to fix this as it is blatantly obvious now the London traffic management system is in fact a port shaping system.
The biggest irony of all is my torrents still download in the middle of the day at full speed.
I just do not give a rats arse about torrents and only use them when I am not at home.
What I care about is not being able to log onto games I have played for months/years because Mweb in their wisdom have port shaped them.
You really do not want to know how dissapointed I was when I logged using another iSP account and having a great ping and absolutly nothing wrong with the game.
My real concern is whether this is going to be an issue with ever single new game that is launched?
Battlefield 3 is just around the corner... :mad::mad::mad:

Ag PLEEEEEEZ can we get an update or feedback on Black Ops ???? I am on gig No.4 that I have had to purchase from Afrihost .... come on now MWEB... what is up ????

The problems started since the device in london broke. maybe reroute the black ops rather than trying to fix the issue

I agree. we need a gaming product connecting via sat 3 just for black ops. like any hardware dealer. If the product breaks they will replace it for free
 
Am I going to have to fight with you to get my section 8 server working properly now also? It's activated and not showing on the server browser, no to mention it took multiple attempts for the gameserver.com technicians to get the server loaded up this side due to timeouts and data corruption.

Please add this game to your shaping policies or what ever you are calling them this week as I don't feel like having to accept i just wasted $32 on renting a server that cant be played on.
 
Nelis the device in London is not broken but actually working as intended. It is a bandwidth shaping device. If you ask me it really just is causing more problems than solving them. I think it was a mistake and it should be removed. I'm not trying to bash mweb as I did have good service up until this device was installed.

Please guys fix this crap, my ping is 600+ it is so annoying, I can't even log into WoW when I have WTFast enabled. Seriously this is starting to get really too much now

I think they must check the shaping etc. or something thats controlling the bandwidth. I got the feeling the gaming protocols are not getting the correct amount of bandwidth thats why afte 11 I can play black ops no problem and super fast as well. Getting a ping of 23ms
