MWEB Gaming Feedback

Trying to update global agenda, a 140mb update is taking 2 hours so far on my 4m and its only 66% done...
 
Yeah throttling on games has gotten ridiculous. Tried Spiral Knights and it's unplayable, lag so hard I just bounce around the screen all the time and I can't even log into Champions Online anymore. Haven't tried out Global Agenda yet.

You don't mind you vids and your downloads going less than full speed but when you gaming performance is worse than 56k dialup you kinda start to get annoyed.
 
New weird Shizzle started to happend 2 days ago. I cant Download from certain sites. The Download window from Firefox or IE just stays at 0%. This only happens on some websites. Tried it on 3 different PC's all do the same so either websites are broken (not likely) or mweb is doing something weird, or even Telkom, but they just rent lines, lines cant block certain downloads. Will please send me an PM.

I used my BB and woop, file downloads. I point to mweb.

Been having problems for a couple weeks now on WoW. Home latency alright but still poor (300-350) and world latency is usually around 1000 which is ridiculous. I've messaged MWEB guy on facebook twice about it and the first time he replied saying I must reset my router. Second time I still haven't received a reply in over a week. Currently I have to make use of a Webafrica unshaped account to be able to do anything worthwhile in game, with Webafrica I am able to playe with 220-250ms latency consistently which make me wonder why MWEB cannot provide this kind of service to me. I also have one of the free 1GB Afrihost accounts where I consistently get 240-280ms which is far better that what I get from MWEB. I'm really unhappy with the service lately and would like some feedback from someone at MWEB who can explain to me what the problem is, because reading these forums, along with some others, I see that I'm not the only subscriber who is experiencing issues. I'm more than happy to provide them with any additional information should it help solve the problem.

Jackp please PM the specific examples to MWEB Guy so we can attempt fault replication from our test bench.

Hi Abnormal

I'm not familiar with any of these games I'm afraid. Can I suggest that you visit our Gamezone forums (www.gamezone.co.za) and notify our gaming team of the situation as well as provide them with details of the games in question so that can take this up with the networks team.

I have currently been a very patient individual however i cannot take it any longer. I currently have your 4 meg uncapped option and am extremely dissappointed. I still struggle to connect to steam ( takes sometimes 5-10 retries before my details will login). Once im connected to steam i cannot see any servers locally for any counterstrike, tf 2 mods etc. I have to open the game and manually enter in IP addreses of servers and connect via the console. I cannot connect to EA games requiring authentiction like Battlefield Bad Company 2. I have tried changing the download settings to Mweb Cape Town(where i live) but it does nothing to help the solution. I can download games no problem from the steam store and get decent rates.

World of Warcraft is shady at the best of times constantly getting disconnected low ping 200ms then spikes to 2000ms. Nothing is consistent with this service of yours. The moment i use my alternative ISP (Afrihost) i dont have any issues whatsoever with any games.

Please can you assist me in this matter as soon as possible.
 
i cant login to steam at all today for some reason says im not connected to the internet when i am also BFBC 2 doesnt want to login to EA servers when i try to connect... though WoW logs in perfectly fine and latency is same as usual 200-300 ms any ideas on what the problems with steam and BFBC2 could be? (i played BF perfecltly fine yesterday) and ive never had problems with steam logins ever... this is the first time im actualy having trouble with steam

The steam servers are fully functional right now and authentication was working fine when we tested it - are you still experiencing a problem?
 
yes well now i think i did something to it... first it said "updating..." then after like 2 mins it said cant login im not connected to the internet... now ive deleted and reinstalled steam now it goes to updating.. then error comes up saying "Steam.exe (main acception): delete of steam.exe failed, win 32 error 5, access denied" so i think now i messed something up... though ive tried running the repair twice and still the same error comes up.

fixed this problem i just started it from another exe in the steam directory.... i got steam to work.... now i just installed the orange box (HL2 ep 1, 2 , TF2 and portal)... as HL2 was updating it just cut the connection to steam now ive got the whole original problem again... so guess this isnt an mweb issue
 
Was able to raid in WoW on my MWEB account for the first time in ages last night, latency was still a bit high (over 300) even when using the WTFast account that was provided by MWEB. Well done on having a functioning network for a change.

I wish i was so lucky :( Where ive been raiding like a happy camper these last few months my WoW experience has unfortunately gone south like the rest of yours when the IPC outage first hit that Thursday. Dunno how long its been (3 weeks?) but still could not sustain a thorough raid on my 1Mb Uncapped line last night... Home ping is great @ 200ms but world sits at 1k solid... *sad panda face*
 
Bloody hell, reading these comments makes me want to even forget considering MWeb for anything. Thanks very much. Was looking into 1Mbps uncapped from MWeb but now, I'm quite sure as a gamer I would not be well served. I am looking for a dependable service provider that is not going to let me down mid-game or for weeks on end. That's why I am moving away from Vodacom, I don't want to end up with a another unpredictable and unstable service provider thanks very much.
