MWEB I am actually quite disgusted

MWeb has previously stated that they do not throttle/shape VPN/encrypted tunnels. Even if they WERE to do this, I can't imagine they would throttle it to 8 BYTES per second :) What's the TCP/IP overhead coming down with each packet for a connection this slow ... :)

I think you have been moaning about this for sometime now so i think you need to ask yourself, why am i still using this service?

Why are you paying for a service that is not delivering?

I don't see how your post assists other than trolling?

@ Users who tried to download this file, thank you, it confuses me to no end why I am having this issue?

If you choose the "Regular, Slower Download" option, the estimated time is 20 minutes. (free is 2 minutes or something)
Before, I'd get speeds of 5kb/s. I always thought that this was what "The Slower Option" was all about.
IDM integrates into your browser and you can set it to automatically kick in with files larger than a certain amount. (I've chosen 1MB)
Now, I get 100kb/s a from Hotfile and IT DOES TAKE 20 MINUTES, not 3 days anymore.

Downloading from these sites with your browser isn't the best idea. Using JDownloader I also always get around 100Kb+ on Hotfile.

IDM is awesome for everything else though.

as i suggested try a speedtest to USA NY. i would think it has something to do with you ->> int (usa) that's the problem as local HTTP/FTP is at "acceptable" speeds. have you tried another DNS to see if that fixes it ? (like google, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4)

Hey Linoman

I have the exact same line and account as you do, and I have the EXACT same problem. My downloads average at about 40kbps.
Im still waiting for mweb to fix this though.

what modem you using btw?
Are you using the "all inclusive" package?

I think it's a Stellenbosch issue, I'm also on Mweb and for the past two weeks Ive been having issues with downloading podcasts, 20 MB tech podcasts.

You call it trolling that is your thing. Go ask rapid what he did when mweb did not deliver.

Did he start thread after thread about mweb, nope he just canceled it. Call it trolling, call it what you like but if i was paying for 4meg and getting 512 i would moan with my money not my browser.

I was in sync with xrapidx's problems and cancellation. It's good value for money to moan until the calendar month (up to 60 days) is over. You also get to warn others.

Yup but cancel the account and not go on for months about this crap service you hate. Do something about it apart from clicking the new thread button.

If it is so disgusting he would have be gone long ago. Odd that other people could download much faster and almost max out their lines. So throttling or shaping was not surely not in effect. Unless they throttle/shape each line or area.

Besides lino you ask this:
So can someone please tell me, why am I paying for a 4mb line with a 4mb account when it would be quicker for me to use 14kbps modem?

You asked i answered and then got called a troll bwhahah, what a fail dude. PERHAPS YOU CAN ASK YOURSELF AGAIN WHY YOU ARE PAYING FOR A SERVICE YOU HAVE SO MANY ISSUES WITH.

Chop

Nice one :) I don't know the specific details of this issue, but, whilst I support "complaining" when service levels are poor, if every possible solution has been looked at and there appears to be nothing else left to try, then take your money somewhere else. That way, everyone is happy.

No problem with moaning about service delivery. Do it but you cannot carry on for months about something you can walk away from.

Who knows why?

At the rate you going on, you would think I was blaming you personally for my slow internet speed issues!

As a matter of fact I DID CANCEL MWEB a few months ago and I went to OpenWeb, but I eventually decided to go back to MWEB as I believed there would be less issues (as they said they did upgrades), however recently it has gotten a lot worse.

How does me just leaving MWEB again sort out the issue? Would it not be better to work with them to solve it than running away>?

I gotta ask dude, if he does want to complain, what's it to you?

I don't know all the history of your difficulties, but based on the above, I'm not sure what anyone can do to assist you any further. If you've tried MWeb, then OpenWeb, then MWeb again and are still not satisfied, maybe try one of the other ISPs in the country? That's all I can suggest.

His just pissed that I told him he was trolling earlier in this thread!

Anyway giving respect where it is due, MWEB Ops is being very helpful by keeping in contact with me via PM. Thank you MWEB!

@users, I do actually give credit where it is due

More generally, I'm interested to know what percentage of MWeb-attributed problems/complaints/issues end up actually being caused by something else, such as a noisy line or a dodgy DSLAM or some other Telkom or hardware fault or a routing issue or a slow remote server or a misconfigured shaper or user error or a misconfigured or damaged or dodgy router.

Here is the thing though if I try another capped product from another ISP it seems to work fine. Could it be that MWEB and my router are not compatible.
