Firstly apologies for venting here but I need to share my experience with Mweb.

I was one of the residents involved with the fibre to home project that kicked off the South African fibre to home revolution in Parkhurst and I was actually also the first house in the country to receive 100 and then later 1000 Mbps internet at home almost two years ago as part of the Parkhurst/Vuma project.

I have since used Vox who I had many issues with and then Mweb. I decided to move away from Mweb as CISP offered better packages at the time. I cancelled my service Jun 2015 and they just kept on running the debit order till October. I have since been struggling to get a refund and am now waiting 5 months for a refund. I was on the 2k a month package so its not a small refund either for 4 months.

This is really not acceptable IMHO and they just couldn't be bothered to resolve this issue for me. My advice to anyone reading this is stay as far away from Mweb as possible.

I am now going to take legal action against them, not for the money but because they need all the bad publicity that they deserve.

Just curious and maybe a bit off topic, was Mweb fibre better than Vox fibre?
What issues did you have with Vox?

Please PM MWEBHelp (who will be here shortly) who will get an accounts person to contact you. Very capable people.

My advice would be to stay as close to MWEB as possible if you want a quality, reliable, always on connection. :)

I posted this on the I Love Parkhurst FB page and its looks like its not an isolated refund and cancellation issue with Mweb and other residents have also experienced this.

Fcon_Vpro, with Vox I had issues with the phone and customer service. The connection worked well. The Mweb 1000Mbps package I got 750 at best but this I believe is not Mweb's issue and mostly due to international bottlenecks. Vox did not have a 1000 at that stage so cant really compare.

Afternoon, please provide me your MWEB account details via private messaging and I will look into this for you.

Thanks for the info. Parents are getting fibre and ive recommened vox for them but got a bit worried for a second that their fibre offering wasnt too great. Im using them for Vdsl and ive had very few issues.

+1 For that, worst ISP that I've ever encountered (I've used a few) As for any post from the Mweb fanboy (Looking at you PostmanPot) just ignore them, I've come to the conclusion that he must work or hold interest in Mweb because he shamelessly advertises for them. They have nothing worth boasting about.

There is another thread reporting on Vox 1GB FTTH. It's mind blowing.

Point fingers all you want, but at least tell us all why you feel this way. I will then dismantle your argument when I have the time.

Holding an interest in MWEB keeps me helluva busy.

Move to a real isp who doesn't lie and use scum business practices to bait old people into paying more.

=
VOX
Web Africa

Uncapped

Afrihost

All much more affordable than mweb

I'm trying to understand this statement.

http://mybroadband.co.za/news/adsl/151929-best-adsl-deals-for-2016.html

For affordability, MWEB capped is on par, and sometimes better.

Older people (who might be the ones buying 20GB packages) would be subsidising us heavier users quite nicely. I think they're happy with the service. OP with a 1000Mbps line is in a different league.

MWEB Uncapped is also on par, and in some cases better. They even have IMO better acceptable usage policy enforcement and threshold limits than competitors.

Lastly, you're guaranteed bandwidth of high performing and reliable qualities.

Can you please help me understand your statement?

Tip for next time:

You can reverse disputed debit orders easily at your bank, especially if they are within 40 days.

supersunbird Mweb needs to sort out problems like this, or are you suggesting that we all just accept it and go to plan B? Maybe that's why we face this type of service in the first place as some customers just accept any customer service they get. Some of the first payments were obviously also past 40 days.

They have however sorted this out now by the looks of it although the refund will only be made next week. I'll believe them as soon as the money is in the bank. The operator who called was supposed to send me a sms with his contact details and case number and this also never arrived.
