Mweb Kill Torrents completely during office hours

Mine is not a home account but a 10Mbps premium Business Uncapped ADSL account. But I get what you saying. I need an unshaped account. Fair enough. Pay for the privilege.

Interestingly enough I was told by the support staff that they are killing torrents because "some users are abusing the system", so it does seem that all mweb users are placed under the same umbrella and usage is not considered on a case by case basis.

Mweb could easily deal with the abusers, either by slinging them off, or putting them in a special pool. Instead they choose to throttle everyone. Follow the money and see how much money they save by discouraging torrents, and the answer is clear.

If you were to use a VPN service, does that bypass the throttling / blocking of this?

Not that I am supporting MWEB at all... but am curious
A VPN often costs some money. The ISP will note that your account is "abusing" their system. Yes it's in the Terms.

Let's get back to the original statement. "Download movies" it says.

Software updates are one thing and if you update a game , that's cool but it ain't what he is doing now, is it!
Distinguishing between P2P gaming traffic and movies is not that easy, I would guess.
