No, currently they do. But this restriction is going to be removed from 1 Feb along with the new pricing. I really don't see any reason not to switch. Saves over R300 per months...

It's quite apparent that MWEB (and eccpt) didn't RTFA about Telkom's new prices, otherwise they would have noticed the part that clearly states that throttling will be falling away on Friday.

So now the Telkom and Mweb-lite throttling policies are the same. Telkom had additional limits during the day, which really made it an awful uncapped option.
Has the Afrihost disaster taught us nothing? With uncapped, you get what you pay for!

A customer who uses more than the average for the product and find himself in the top percentile of users will have his connection speed reduced accordingly.

Where does it state that Telkom will have a throttling policy? Or are you mistaking throttling for shaping?

It is my understanding correct that these "new" packages are there to respond to Telkom's cuts. Is that right? What about the existing packages? Are they also going to "enjoy" the price reduction? Will they also be throttled? Mweb (2mb) is already way overpriced compared to other ISP's. Time to let the wallet do the talking!
While I agree with you, these are new products, and on paper they do not compete with Telkom's offering as Telkom is removing their throttling, so it does not make any sense as it currently stands to use the new Mweb 2Mbps or 4 Mbps accounts, I for one would rather give Telkom a try for a month or 2 and make a decision, unless Mweb is willing to give a trial for your new product for that long a period?

From Telkom's site - their page has been updated with the new prices, and this is linked from that, so I assume it's relevant. They state quite clearly it's shaped, and they will throttle high usage users.

Our existing products will remain the same, uncapped shaped unthrottled.
We have added the throttled accounts to our product offerings.

Wrong , they removing the "day time restrictions" and the throttling stays. Read the AUP
You used to be great in your simplicity, want uncapped ADSL, here's your 3 speed choices.
Now you have gone down the road of these other dodgy IPS's by creating another 3 more products into your offering, just to complicate it more.
Now you are just the same as those those other ISP's like OpenWeb.
But I will just switch to another another ISP that values simplicity
For the people who know they never going to get into that top data usage percentile these throttled packages offer a saving. I for one am looking for an uncapped account that gives me full line speed 24/7 with low latency at a price comparable to these current throttled accounts. No point paying a premium if I know I'm never going to get to the usage where I get throttled.
