Thank god I ditched Mweb a few months ago. I can downgrade or cancel my current DSL connection effective from the start of the next month as long as I give notice before the 25th. Perfectly reasonable policy.

^ what he said.

Despite being pushed around you're doing the right thing ABU!

I came across this while looking at past ADSL articles posted on mybb.

Seems MWeb hasn't really changed. There just hasn't been a platform for the multitude of people to voice there opinions and share there views.

Well it really only applies to those who abuse the system, and I find your sig quite funny as it seems Afrihost is being affected quite badly by all the new bandwidth hogs signing up.

LOL. So glad we dumped this lot. It still amazes me that they've managed to reduce their public image to ashes to quickly.

I attempted to downgrade my uncapped 4mbps account to the 1gb capped account before the end of September.

It wasn't downgraded and after enquiring why, today (2 weeks later) I received notification from Martha Wightman of MWEB's Customer Contact Centre stating:

"Please note that, when you downgrade it means you are canceling the current product. To cancel a product, a calendar month notice is required. Hence the reason why the downgrade will only take effect on 1 November 2013."

I suppose this is new Mweb policy, to try to stop the outflow of disgruntled clients.

Good Morning ABU

We normally schedule downgrades for the first of the new month.

Send me a private message if you still require any assistance from me.

These guys are trying to maintain an image, but are either too dumb to realise the power of the net, or honestly believe consumers live in silos.

They EDIT their FB page to reflect or portray the image that everything is cool and that only a few ''hogs' or ''abusers'' exist and that in the main throttling is welcomed. Well this is like saying e-tolls are welcome. They also simply will not publish limits for capping. They have now resorted to blocking 'spammers' from commenting on FB ......
But other open forums and consumer sites tell a different story of frustration and disdain.

Well here's the thing, firstly, ''abusers' should have been anticipated IMHO, when they had sold the product originally as uncapped unthrottled, and secondly some of the ''spammers' on their FB page are people with a message for MWEB. Disgruntled consumers with a message which MWEB arrogantly choose to ignore, and in most cases hide by editing.

For me personally - MWEB has seemingly blocked me from their FB page, which has only strengthened my resolve.

I shall, and have found. other social media circles, other communication platforms and other means to continue to warn future subscribers of the ''ethic'' and modus operandi of these guys, as well as advise existing subscribers to find alternate ISPs for comparison and that they should at least get value for money or at very least, what was ADVERTISED in the first place.

I would ask that others who have had their contracts with MWEB unilaterally changed or those who are simply not getting the service that they paid for to continue to advise people accordingly ... the 30day window throttling will get the rest eventually.

Lol, I run a facebook site with over 7500 fans. It is no joke trying to spin-doctor a company line when things go pear-shaped. Cudos to Mwebguy for trying. But you have blackberry, twitter and mxit to contend with :)
