MWEB peering changes begin - fallout imminent

^5 for Mweb!

Those that can should make a change to support them- it's the least you can do as a thank you.

Traceroute to a server @ MTN Business (same DC as MyBB).. traffic is going over SAIX but it's just getting dropped :/

Routing tables being advertised and updated..will take awile

Hershaw previously explained that MWEB will not ‘black hole’ any local ISP’s traffic. “We will simply be rerouting traffic away from congested and very expensive local transit links to our international bandwidth, which is significantly cheaper and not congested,” said Hershaw.
What an utterly disgusting state of affairs.
I wonder how much fiber is laying around unlit in this country.

Mybroadband inaccessible from mweb

Hi guys

Also noticed that mybroadband is no longer accessible from my work mweb account.

It is accessible from our other connectivity.

Yup, no access to MyBB with mweb ...... that's pretty fscking fail right there.

All of a sudden the domains I have with MTN (via Hetzner) disappeared yet international and MWeb were fine.

I need to work so I have cut over to our backup ISP (WebAfrica) and I am back up and running. Great ping times everywhere

Got a notification from Hetzner

Well done MWEB, so if I want to go onto MyBB i have to use my Vodacom Connection. So much for freeing the web, now I can only browse sites MWEB wants me to. So much for an open internet, I understand this takes time, but really on a Thursday afternoon. I cannot VPN to my clients so effectively have to work on another network.

if you really need to browse a site you cant get to look up an intl anonymous proxy

This is a cause worth fighting for, people always talk here about doing something and this is the most ive seen happen

Our part of the deal is to unfortunately deal with high latencies and other problems :)

GO MWEB!

Most of the people posting here are ones who don't use MWEB accounts since others (like me) don't have local access. Now I have to route everything through damn Tor. Big pain in the ass.

Similar problem here; temporarily switched to a different provider and notified some hosting customers of potential access problems for some customers. I'm all behind MWEB but it's not a good first firing volley in their battle.

I lost connectivity to my webshop and mail on my hosted server at Hetzner and couldn't surf mybroadband.co.za either. So much for the international routing.

Sadly I'll have to say goodbye to my mweb uncapped account and will be finding another option. (I'm using my webafrica prepaid account right now, to make things work).

Those of you experiencing problems, just relax.
Its all for a good cause, I am they are working on fixing you guys up.

I would think that some of the ISP's are scrambling to get their routing working. There will be some speed bumps (traffic calming devices) in the road before the dust settles. once they get over this things can only get better for us in SA...
