I am using MWEB 4MB connection and even I am not getting 1MB. I spoke to their customer services but they advised me to change my line filter. I changed my filter even router and everything remain as it is.

I thought Afrishot is a stable and a reliable ISP because it is on top according to review and customer rating but one thread stops me to use Afrihost.

I am confuse which ISP is reliable in SA. SA's ISP offer you expensive internet with zero% reliability. I am not happy with South African ISPs at all. SA need more than 100 years to overcome on its ISP reliability and speeding issues.

Here is the truth: You choose one of the lesser evils.

Are you sure you're testing using the right host? I've never heard of AfricaINX before. If you're on Mweb use a Mweb host or whatever backbone Mweb uses (MTN, IS, etc.). I've done tests using Neotel and the ping and speeds are horrible, but when I switch to MTN or Mweb (forgot their specific names) the speeds are 100% normal.

Hi

Could you please drop me a PM with your MWEB account info.
I would like to check this out for you from my side.

I went to 4MB a few days ago and I have the same issue. From 17:00 it's down to 2Mb, and from 19:00 it's at 1MB exactly. I'm only home after 18:00 so I "enjoy" 2Mb for an hour then 1Mb for the rest of the evening, can't play games anymore due to to much lag. So it's clear they limit the connections during certain times, when I dial an FNB account I get full speed no problems. Scum of the earth this mweb people! Canceled now, they suck big time!
(Also the so called "premium" account, nothing premium about it really!)

get a business uncapped from Afrihost. You will really get what you pay for.

How's their ping times to the gaming servers that mweb hosts?

Mweb priorities gaming traffic to the gaming servers they host, so currently I have 7ms ping to the CPT servers and 34ms to the JHB servers, but the 1Mb limit on my account is causing lag, so can't play at the moment. All other accounts I have tested has ping times over 60ms, almost like mweb deliberately "throttles" gaming ports to their servers from other ISP's in the hope that the gamers will joint them...

I am paying ZAR 797.00 For a bundled 4MB. My Ping is roughly less than 50 for local servers.

I can play Ghost on PSN, while streaming Netflix(In HD) and downloading games on the background.

Its pretty good. As far as i know gaming is prioritised. If its not, you can completely UNSHAPE the line.

Thanks, will definitely give them a try then

I can't use P2P in business connections and I don't like contracts. I need reliable and stable connection and sorry to say reliable and stable connections are not available.

Well then, there is no other way to say it but you are ****ed. If you're not willing to test various ISP's to find which one suits you the best then there is no use coming here and asking for advice. People have given you advice yet you retort to that.

Also, there are reliable and stable connections. My OpenWeb Gold Uncapped has not given me a single piece of trouble that could not be sorted out with a simple port reset and that was once in my last 6 months with them.

Every time when you want to try new ISP you have to pay R300 to R400 first time XYZ fee. I am happy to switch and test different ISPs if you willing to bear my first time fee. There are 100s of ISPs so please calculate your budget for me :)

There is no start-up fee for Afrihost, and if you are interested I can also get you a 50% discount on your first bill. PM if interested.

I received a phone call from MWEB Technical team ages ago but no one was able to sort out my problem. Problem still exists.

Here is the snapshot of your network performance. I sure this is the right time to switch my ISP

My MWEB 4MB line has been flying of late. I think you have other issues.
