MWEB - still no price cuts?

Despite what Afrihost has come up with, Mweb is still the best bang for buck for heavy downloaders. If I choose to, I can average over 300 GB on Mweb per month at 4Mb/s. How much will Afrihost let you use before they throttle you. I know some guys have done 250GB, but almost every uncapped package I've ever used was great until the number of customers grew. I wouldn't be surprised to hear of Afrihost throttling at 50GB in a few week's time.

They've stated in one of the threads you can easily do 300GB without any fear of capping - and they will never be reducing that. I need to dig it up but with statements like that its well worth considering moving.

I just played that sound like in the westerns while seeing that pic rolfmao...classic bud :D.

I think MWEB will need more time as they don't want to rush into any decisions now (read it up somewhere).

So in essence

Quick Response = not so satisfied result.
Longer Response = everyone is a happy chappy.

Havent seen Mweb Guy today, lets hope its a sighn that he is in a meeting and discussing the new prices :)

True but they could at least have a press statement that implies what they plan on doing "We will be dropping our prices soon" or "We will probably not be changing our pricing, and will be focusing on XYZ instead..." , as I am sure that they can estimate with the current information available.

And besides I have a feeling ISP's knew about the pricing changes a while ago, its strange that telkom would mail them at the same time as customers.

PS and no I don't mean the generic "we allways strive to give our customers the best value for there money"

How much more time do they need - just get all the bean counters in a room for a meeting and come up with a value. :)

I reckon they're going to try to come up with more 'value' rather than lower prices - lower prices tend to hit the bottom line (revenue generation).........

They are probably waiting for Telkom's new wholesale pricing. This could also result in the other ISPs adjusting their retail prices.

Just like web africa's uncapped :)

...now fast forward to today, which isp was least affected if any at all with sat3 break.

I think it's new territory for MWeb as Telkom have thrown the cat amongst the pigeons here with the new 2Mbps lines.

I don't think anybody would argue with the fact that MWeb have built a very happy uncapped clientèle after a initial rocky start (everyone was on a learning curve back then) and they are now faced with a situation where their user base will play musical chairs.

Some 4Mbps users will downgrade to 2Mbps and some 1Mbps users will upgrade to 2Mbps at the same time as a lot of happy ex-384Kbps users start moving more data on their new 1Mbps lines.

Definitely a tricky one for the bean counters working on the new account cost/performance analysis.

You could try to apply some pressure by all submitting termination requests. You can always reactivate the service before the termination if necessary. If everybody does this then you might force them to rethink their pricing.

If it gets to August with no change, then I am also out the door.

Just don't come back crying when you had no access due to cable fault and not enough redundancy.
