MWEB Sucky Speeds

Mine is doing very well.

Cannot complaing this side. Just wish it was always like this :(

The worst is that their silence is deafening!!!!!! Not cool MWEB, not cool!!!

That's their way. Someone says something nice about mweb and they jump all over the post and ignore the complaints or give a stock answer.

Yup same problem, and keep in mind i don't even care/go near p2p or mass downloading. The ****ty service Im getting is purely day to day stuff, browsing, downloading the odd service pack.
MWEB support loves to send you to speedtest though, its laughable. The latency? *vomit*

International ADSL AFFECTED
START DATE: Wed 12 May 10 07h45 (SAST)
END DATE: Sat 15 May 10 20h00 (SAST)
EXPECTED DURATION: Approx 4 days
IMPACT: Increased latency, slow responses
REASON FOR CHANGE: SAT3 repairs & restoration

It's all nice that your justification for the poor service is posted and all, but the thing is, before, after and during repairs and downtimes, mweb's performance is one paddle short of a pingpong match.

I am also on 4mb uncapped from mweb, i was getting speeds of 20-40kb/s last night on utorrent but then this morning i clicked on the auto setup guide and im currently getting speeds of 100kb/s.........its freaking awsome and this is the shaping time too isnt it

I know the feeling. Since the Seacom cable went down a few weeks ago I have had the same crappy speeds with MWEB. My http downloads reach a maximum speed of 20Kb/s. I have logged numerous calls with MWeb and everytime I speak with them they try to sell me unshaped internet..

Odd how one person gets absolute horrid speeds , but at the same time someone else is able to max their line with no problems what so ever . In my case this does change on a daily basis .. going from a min of 100 down to 420 the next day . Can honestly say I haven't had any major problems , 1/4 of the lines speed was the border line worst performance ..but still very usable :)

2 words : contention ratio...
if a few max out the service then others will get crappy speed

Today illustrates my theory that the shaping policy is dynamic, and is refreshed every hours. 17H00 and things speed up tremendously, also above 300Kb/s.
As long as MWEb consistantly give me a better service that the rest I could not care how they actually shape.
Today i had speeds of 8-11kps during the day which I am happy with on my 384 line. As long as the speed increases to above 20 tonight I am happy.
What I find strange is Seacom denying they had a problem and mweb instisting even today that they did.
DSTV on demand is the likely culprit. But hey I am no fundi and as long as i get my 30 plus gigs a month I am happy. Especially for the price.

Def something up with Mweb. When I joined, my downloads were 100KBps+
Now they average 50KBps and often just time out.

I'm on 4Mbps, uncapped. Prepared to wait to see how things pan out - sure there are teething problems; but it's not looking good at the moment.

Last night and tonight my capped Internet account is suffering badly via international. There is definitely something wrong with Mweb.Mind you Fnbconnect speeds for international are even worse.I now start to wonder what the hell is up with S.A 's international connections.

Ok, I admit it, I stuck up for MWEB with P2p, but DOWNSTORM? FFS MWEB NOW YOU HAVE GONE TOO FAR!
