Support today and application forms

Anyone trying to get the new ADSL upcapped deal will find MWEB support a bit lacklustre today.

There is a long queue for the sales line. Considering the demand, this was to be expected. When you do get through, they are not sending out the application form as promised. I had to ring three times and wait online for them to do it. Perhaps someone can upload it somewhere.

For some reason MWEB insists on 'pre-filling' the application form, even if you ask them not to. If you want to get one for someone else, for example, this can be a problem.

30 Days Notice

Secondly, the MWEB rep here claims there is no risk, only "1 month's charges".

To put the record straight, you need to give MWEB 30 day's notice. So if by the 10th of the month the service is overloaded and running slow and you change your mind, you will have to pay for the next month. I'm sure you could persuade them to cancel immediately, but these are the conditions all the sales staff are quoting up front.

I'm looking forward to trying it and I hope it doesn't disappoint.

I signed up over the phone within about 5~10 minutes. I have to send the completed documentation to them within 7 days. Perhaps the specific call centre agent you spoke to was a little... overworked?

Actually, they are employing people to answer the phone who are not empowered to do anything apart from put you at the end of the queue again. Of course being a Friday things are going to be busier, but that's not on.

*yawn*, another noob bitching & moaning.

Welcome to the real world of corporates, they all got 30 day notices.

I would like to say that I had Portia helping me and she did a brilliant job. So thank you mweb. I can understand the amount of work that they have had since the launch.

i signed up yesterday, got my account today (i had to send another thing i forget) and so far its working great. i assume a friday afternoon would count as their peak times and i still get bout 80kbps on torrents. (4mbit line) lets c how it goes over the weekend :D

This is probably why they are advertising the deal as available only from next week... so they can bulk up their sales teams!

i believe mweb's been a little over run................................. i wonder why they so surprised................

The MWEB rep is saying try it for a month and no further payments, but sales is saying they want 30 days notice (2 months effectively).

most contracts in the T&Cs usually require 30 day calendar notice to break. a good business will allow you to break a day or two before they submit their batch of debit orders even if they technically require 30 days. if they stick to the 30 days, tough luck. you signed on the dotted line after all. it's the risk you will almost always run.

I don't have a problem with the terms, just the consistency of what they promise. If MWEB (the rep) is saying one thing and the T&C says another then who do we believe? [Why doesn't he answer?]
