Mweb Throttling Bull

Really wish Mybroadband would do a meaningful story on the 30 day rolling threshold because that is the crux of every issue with Mweb.

Until Mweb gives details as to how usage is measured and when throttling kicks in, all of the above is meaningless conjecture.

The only option is to downgrade your uncapped to a 1GB capped account, write off the R29 (Mweb obviously needs the money very badly) and immediately migrate to another ISP.
 
And the throttling has had FANTASTIC results ... according to MWEB

But this MWEB customer isn't sure whats what ..mwebfanstasticnwrk.PNG

Luckily for the guy, there are folk like us to guide him toward to permanent fix, like the one suggested in the post above......;)

WhenI tried to do it that way Mweb accounts department told me I would be billed the full amount anyway even if I switched to the R29 1gig. Are sure that that can still be done?

It is a legal thing - Basically "You can look it up youself but I (my disclaimer) did not release (publish) the names on a public forum. Unfortunately SA law and publishing have not caught up with the digital age. Debatable if it is a defense but it is better than having none. Person may regret comment and remove it, you publish something that is no longer there... Like I say better to be safe than sorry. That's my take on it :)

Sure, but the post is incredibly easy to find (https://www.facebook.com/MWEB/posts/676557315696648 oops, did I do that?), and would most likely end up cached in the great archive that is Google because Google is precisely how I found it.

They would have to "sue the internet" as it were. If you make something publicly available there's no "takesies backsies" and the original poster is liable for their post. The only time you can claim otherwise is if someone takes private content and makes it publicly available.

I just find censoring publicly published information such a pointless thing to do. But I guess if it makes you happy, sure, have fun. I just wouldn't bother--it's an exercise in futility.

I am not censoring it my good man, I did not ask the poster his permission to use his name, after all, being an MWEB subscriber is a bit like admitting you are the town idiot ... and I don't want to embarrass the poor fellow. That aside, MWEB have a mean streak, and may ban him from their little banter page as they did me...;)

I'll have you know I was quite proudly an MWEB subscriber when they were still the heroes. They had the best reliability and performance of the lot (and I'd tried them all).

But yeah, they've just gone back to the way they were. Oh well :)

Hope common sense prevails at MWEB. If it does .. I would probably go back for a few reasons.

Im with OW. Done well over 120GB already and speed on all protocols is still fine. Some cases I surpass 200GB on my 1Mb line and I have never felt any throttling. Only time I see shaping is during the day where downloads are shaped, but everything else works fine

Would you like to know more or less when you can expect to have the speed limit lifted? We only speed limit on specific user usage patterns.

You should be unthrottled in approximately 3 - 4 days depending on your usage patterns going forward. If you continually find yourself speed limited, I'll advise upgrading to the Premium up to 2MB Package.

From your usage history this will be the ideal package for you.

Thanx for the assistance Mweb Guy. I think I'll definitely upgrade to the 2MB package. THE TELKOM INTERNET 2MB PACKAGE.

In all honesty people should stop complaining now, the truth has been out there for a while now. Mweb throttles you to death when you use the service for what is was intended for. Now people are just not exercising their right to choose an ISP that doesnt throttle you when you use the service as it was intended to be used like what MWEB does.

Just adding some more keywords for Google. Mweb throttles and they arent giving customers the limits for when they throttle you on an uncapped account
