Mweb Throttling Bull

What package are you on? 1mbps standard? I'm guessing it's going to move out of Throttled when that figure gets to around 100GB based on what others have indicated their throttling at on the same package.
WHAT!!! you want to tell me you are also Guessing and don't know for sure?

MWEB Guy, does the throttling algorithm only look at downloaded data or both download and upload in total?

Yep, I'm on 4mbps, at Usage for last 30 days: 375.36 GB Unthrottled still so I'm also interested to see where that magic number is.
I have seen speculation that it might be around 400GB. But I am afraid the goalpost can shift to easily for my comfort, coupled with their cancellation policy makes me not want to join them again.

Good Day Textile Guy, I noticed the five threads. I also found a common denominator i.e. the same clients posting in the threads :p

We have not hidden all the posts on Facebook, only those that were repetitive and those who did not require assistance but instead trolled on other posts.

We have not disclosed threshold figures and I can understand the client base affected by throttling being disheartened by it.

What we have done, as an interim measure. Is improve the tools available to illustrate when you are being throttled and the rolling period usage which impacted on the throttling. This is now available via My account.

In my personal capacity, I have noticed a better all round experience since throttling has been enabled.

Can you please stop using the word threshold as it totally clashes with the word uncapped and start calling your product CAPPED . I am stilll with mweb and I am totally pissed off @ this BS

Ps. I am not part of your so called 5% of ppl downloading the internet. my steam downloads alone for this month is about 40GB dew to HDD failure SO GO **** yourself mweb

Mwebguy likes you, if you get throttled he would have no friends lol - Just kidding.

But still my point is valid, there is no magic number, that is why I can reach over 140gbs before being throttled and someone else gets throttle the moment they go over 100gbs in a month. The figures are random which means enforcement is done on a whim. They can argue till they are black and blue in the face, numbers do not lie.
And you are right Mweb does not care whether it is steam downloads or pron or torrents lol
The funny think is Telkom woke up and smelled the coffee and mweb just jumped off the bus. To me it looks like a new CEO wanting to show a good bottom line.
I have looked at my yearly stats and on average I am no abuser, in fact I fit their ideal customer profile...

Use less than 100gbs per month, an average I thing of 60gbs or less yet they have just lost me as a client forever. Will my usage get me shaped on any other service? The answer is no lol

I do about +- 65GB for the month been hitting that for the past year only my steam downloads take me over 70GB from time to time so I never do over 100 GB in a month but I am throttled so its a random number . My friend downloads the internet and he is totally happy never been throttled he does about 150+gb per month so I wonder also what's the magic number

Hi Bernie

Uploads are not added into our usage calculations and therefore you are actually getting more than you thought.

So with that said, What goes up is all up to you :)

Thanks, most of my usage would be uploading (CrashPlan backups)

Had a suspicion about this too. Exactly why I can not support them.

Be carefull!! dont think that is totally true. Get yourself a network tracker and compare the usages with their client zone and you will see uploads indeed cont towards your overall bandwidth.

That is a blatant lie. I could drop about another 10gbs from my total if that was true.
I know you quote the company line but stop lying. Your total usage is used to determime throttle. How the hell can you come on an open forum and blatantly lie? This is not facebook where you can just block or delete errors!

I have received confirmation about this before i replied.

Uploaded data is not added into our calculations.

For f's sake get a calculator and calculate the usage displayed on the Myadsl for your 30-day rolling window and lord help me if that tallies with downloads only then post here again. If it does not pretty please let me know :)

Then my usage is 103gbs lol and not the 121gbs it says on the myadsl usage meter lol Seriously does any tom, dick or harry get to log in as Mr Mwebguy?

Mweb only has 1mbps premium ADSL lines no 1/2 mbps users

Sorry the / was meant to imply or.
1mbps for me which is why I am so angry at mweb. and now they are saying they throttle on downloads only usage. My average per year would be below 50gbs per month which makes them throttling me an even bigger joke.
Hi here is your uncapped but please remember you can only download X or we will throttle you.
The irony is that not even telkom in it's heyday was this arrogant and daft. It's like their CEO is actually working for Afrihost or OpenWeb or even Telkom. You really could not drive away paying custmers harder if you tried.
The contraductions coming out of Mweb's mouth are ludicrus, even more galling is seening that stupid "Switch to Mweb now" advert above while I write this reply. :wtf:
