Mweb Throttling Bull

Well I've tried moving twice before only to be only more frustrated by poor service of the new ISPs, you guys have provided the best continual service up to now.

What you have failed at badly is providing the upset users with straight forward answers from the get go. The things like the 30 day average added to the CP is a good start but it should have been done at the beginning of September. Also clarifying what sort of limit guidelines are imposed for the different speeds on both the std and premium offerings.
You lost me "30 day average added to the cp?" Consider me an idiot (i am sure you do lol) but what is that. I thought it was based on daily consumption and not an average? am i wrong?

No, never and as everything forwards to several other emails I would not have missed I am an abuser email :)

We throttled due to clients bypassing the shaping. Which you know is easily done using torrent applications and so forth.
and i have never done that. Trust me If I had i would not be so angry and a company i convinced other people to join :(

Download speed: Up to 1 Mbps
Upload speed: Up to 256 Kbps
This little snippit taken from your Full Specifications Advert for your 1mbps premium ADSL Uncapped, you know the one, the one that does not mention throttling at all. Yes I am going to bring up the how the hell could I upload 3482gb if you give me 256kps argument again. Not because it is true but to help you out. See I can be nice :) Please have one of your legal team fix your inhouse advert. With the trolling you are getting I will not be the only one with a calculator examining every second of data used.

There must be at least 5 threads going on simultaneously on MWEB throttling, not to mention the number of Facebook comments, that magically disappear, not to mention at least 10 Hellopeter complaints this part month alone, not to mention at least 5 other complaints on our local discussion circle .... Then there are the silent protestors who cancel and change....
Surely this should be enough for MWEB to either review their policy or at least to offer a numerical value before throttling is applied?

Surely MWEB management cannot be so blind, or disinterested, or so high and mighty as not to see this and take some action......

My word ... This is SO similar to the e toll debacle it's frightening.....

Goto myadsl.mweb.co.za under your usage it shows the 30 day window.

Just got my confirmation of cancelation. Mweb and I will be history from November 30, 2013. The hardest part is changing all my banking details to not reflect mweb as my email address. Future prediction - CEO fired, new boss at the helm promising sweeping changes at embattled MWEB once boasting over 70 000 users fends off a hostile take-over by (insert ISP name here). Mr Mwebguy quoted as say "The remaining 20 users are very happy with the quality of our network."

Sorry, thought it was something new; it is however, a pity that if you actually take the time to calculate the numbers quoted daily in the 30-day period they do not match the 30-day window usage stats. I am sure a simple script added to the page could fix that but I guess they want to be as vague as possible :)

I don't think it's an exact science but I agree, if it's using a different number set as it's source it's a bit stupid.

Wait, are you talking about adding them up yourself? They've added this line:

You have used 221.42 GB so far this month.
Last Session: 17 October, 2013, 00:08:58
Connection status: Unthrottled
Usage for last 30 days: 345.7 GB

Hmm, if I take from the 17th of September to the 17th of October I get a total of 430,571.60 where as my stated as 345.7

Hey Fudzy, the usage for today won't be included in the rolling period statistics. The 30 days prior to today.

Good Day Textile Guy, I noticed the five threads. I also found a common denominator i.e. the same clients posting in the threads :p

We have not hidden all the posts on Facebook, only those that were repetitive and those who did not require assistance but instead trolled on other posts.

We have not disclosed threshold figures and I can understand the client base affected by throttling being disheartened by it.

What we have done, as an interim measure. Is improve the tools available to illustrate when you are being throttled and the rolling period usage which impacted on the throttling. This is now available via My account.

In my personal capacity, I have noticed a better all round experience since throttling has been enabled.

How many clients have you lost already ?

enjoying throttling is like saying you enjoy living under the rule Kim Jong-un

You eat three peas for lunch then you may not have any more (throttled) , but don't you dare stop paying your tax

Why, he is right, we are a few trolling around until our time is up. He is paid to say everything is okay, it is not likely he is going to suddenly start sobbing and tell us it was all a big mistake :) We are venting our frustration because we have a forum to do it in. The vasy majority when they notice they are throttled will just quietly move on. Mweb really have nothing to lose. If they bleed customers they will launch an advertising campaign anouncing the end to throttling.
Win win for them. They are relying on the vast majority to not even notice. And in a few months they can start scaling back their purchase of capacity. Drop in a price increase and your bottom line will look good despite losing a few hundred and at worst estimate a few thousand customers.

I see that youve included a 30-day moving total. This is helpful yep. Is that all though? I dont notice anything else?
