Mweb throttling youtube

Quote the posts please.

Just in case you didn't know, DERoestorf and I have friendly banter that spans many threads.

Just so you know, I've been following most of the threads you have posted in within the last ~month.
That "friendly banter", as you call it, is more of most of the forumites here asking you desist from your fanboyism and please stick to actually helping a forumite instead without blaming ever star in the sky, every grain of sand on the planet, because it can't be dear Mweb.

Definitely no issues with Chrome and MWEB Capped. The Chrome issues with MWEB Uncapped are being investigated. Please use an alternative browser in the meantime.

BS. I raised this with MWeb already - somehow the mighty Mweb think that Google would tolerate a bug in Chrome to the detriment of their own product (YouTube). I also had Gmail running poorly on Chrome on Mweb but fine when other ISPs were used.

We'll probably never get the real answer from Mweb - if they even know themselves, but blaming Chrome was kinda funny for a while.

BTW I'm on a capped contract.

What's BS? I've not read one complaint about Chrome and YouTube being a problem with MWEB Capped.

Changes were made and the Chrome and YouTube issues with MWEB Uncapped seem to have been resolved, so no, I don't think MWEB thinks that.

What issues do you have with Capped?

Lo and behold! Another user has a problem with Mweb (Chrome + YouTube on it) and PostmanPot is to the rescue!
Btw, could we keep our discussion on the fiber feedback thread, just quote this there so it's more centralized.

You're getting weaker and weaker...

Hi Diplos, please PM me your MWEB account details so that I can look into this for you.

Hi Jooster, when streaming, right click on the video and select "stats for nerds". This should create a little pop-up displaying your streaming stats. Please screenshot the pop-up and upload it here for me to look into.

Hey,

Here's a screenshot for you taken just a minute ago.

YouTube is putting me onto 144p quality when I set it to Auto on my 8mb connection. I have a capped account too but I am nowhere near my limit.

As suggested, when I use Firefox I get closer to 4000kbps on the same video just a minute later.

I can live with it with YouTube but Gmail slowing to a crawl is the one that really kills me.

Thanks

Thanks; I've recreated your port. Please reboot for 5 minutes and test.

Hit the power button on your router, and leave it off for 5 minutes before turning it back on, and then test.

Well that's a ~20 seconds boot of the router. Assuming you did a port reset? Why do you think it will have an effect?

Morning Johnatan56, please let me know if the reboot helped.

Slightly off topic but still related to the perceived poor performance that seems to be the order of the day on Mweb of late.

Over the weekend, there was a spate of very intense debates about Mweb performance on many threads this one included.
Accusation were thrown in all directions about performance form e-mail access to youtube being throttled to poor streaming services.
So after reading all the posts, I decided to "see for myself" from premise of being a new prospective client, ready to get a new ISP.

So what do I do normally? Well I go to your website and read absolutely everything I can find about you and your service. What do you think I find?

Not even your own webpages are rendering properly! Images do not display, pages time out pages do not complete , the list goes on and on.

What impression do you think I am left with about Mweb? Some one I should approach and move over to from my current ISP? Not a chance!

Its your browser you say? Not a chance, it does not matter what browser I chose, WM Edge, IE 11, Chrome, Firefox etc.

Its your connection , your line etc. No way --- Your website is the ONLY one giving hassles.

Go to any pages on your ADSL section such as this one and you should see what I am on about ...

Your service is atrocious!

Good Morning daniellgr,

Thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention.

Please assist by providing me a few screenshots of what you see when accessing our website.

I tested it this morning and was not able to replicate. We would like to look into it, however require some assistance from you.

You could also sign up for our 7Day free trial and test:

I hope you provide us the opportunity to look into this.

We eagerly await your reply.

Kind regards

MWeb started shaping Apple downloads again , I'm lost for words at the arrogance and stupidity of this company despite me repeatedly proving that MWeb is shaping a Apple server
