Mweb throttling youtube

Good Morning daniellgr,

Thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention.

Please assist by providing me a few screenshots of what you see when accessing our website.

I tested it this morning and was not able to replicate. We would like to look into it, however require some assistance from you.

You could also sign up for our 7Day free trial and test:

I hope you provide us the opportunity to look into this.

We eagerly await your reply.

Kind regards

Thanks for the response. I suggest you look at this very old thread for a clue as to why the Mweb help centre is not working too well again.

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/271823-MWeb-Help-broken

The main pages of the help centre are okay this morning, leaving only the subsidiary pages with problems especially resolving pictures and other inserted information.

Looks like someone must also look at what has happened to all mweb cached data ....

I also notice a vast improvement in RTTs to mweb this morning ........

Hi

Are you able to send me a screen shot of what you seeing.
We tested our test bench again and we cannot replicate the problem.
Have you tried a different device or PC to see if you get the same problem?

NO I can't try another device, I have only the one pC. I have no issues whatsoever with any other website --- in fact I have just done a test for a friend on my PC after clearing ALL cached data, history etc, and my PC loads an international news site in <2 seconds, compared to his PC which is taking in excess of 15 seconds for the same site.

Ironically, he is a Mweb client on a fibre connection ....... with the exact same model PC as mine ......

I have asked him to do a trace route from his PC to the same international sites to compare with mine. meanwhile I am running pingplottter tests on Mweb ......

There is no way it is my PC or my line etc.

I did a google search and came up with this exact same problem with Mweb, which led me to the old thread I posted the link for ...

Here is the error message I get with one of your help pages ------

Might as well come and add my 2c.

Was unable to stream any YouTube video of any quality using MWEB. Switched to WA 1GB free account and was able to watch them perfectly.

Hi

I was not blaming your equipment, I simply wanted to know if testing with a cellphone, tablet or another PC yielded the same results for you.
We have not received any queries regarding the help site not loading so we need to try and isolate what could be causing the problem.
I have since ran another test and on the test bench and noticed that images are not loading while others do.
I have notified the relevant persons on our side now to check it out.

Hi,

Are you able to test the video on the MWEB account now and send me a screen shot of the video stats.

Okay, let's hope mweb finds what causes these anomalies ...

Hi All

We have been testing youtube on our test bench since the issue was first raised and we were not able to replicate the issue.
Our engineers have been monitoring youtube very closely and have made some adjustments to some of the traffic signatures.
If anyone is still experiencing a problem, drop me a PM with your account info and the video stats on youtube.
