Mweb Uncapped 384k Users

Got a 384 uncapped account with MWeb. It really sucks! Max speed 10 - 15k. When I switch over to my Telkom account I get 41k. This is for the very same download. If this is what the fuss of uncapped is all about, I'd much rather stick with my old account.

Why can you pull nearly 40gb on your telkom account for the same money?

Probably not. But surely they should tell you what download speed you can expect when they advertise their services. BTW, I phoned their customer support this morning and was told that there is absolutely no reason why I shouldn't be getting 40-41k on my 384 line. They escalated my complaint to a higher level and promised to get back to me. This was before I saw this thread. So let's wait and see...

Since Monday night I've been getting terrible speeds on torrents and the speeds are much more unstable than what they have been. Before Monday, torrents usually downloaded very slowly during the day, but often downloaded at 30 kB/s late at night. This was consistent with the claim by MWEB that p2p would be heavily shaped during the day, but feel unshaped at night. Now my speeds on my Screamer account are better than MWEB.

I can only assume that from Monday MWEB changed the way they are shaping 384 lines. I am very upset at this and would hope things would go back to the way they were as torrents are becoming unusable at these speeds.

My understanding was that throttling is a way of shaping. Also I'm getting much better speeds on http than on even well seeded torrents, so it seems like shaping to me.

Happy to report that that after lodging a complaint MWeb got back to me and sorted out the problem in no time. Now I'm DLing at about 38k with which I am more than happy. Good show, MWeb! :D

Er, could you be a little more specific about how the problem was sorted out?

Sadly, I have no idea. They phoned me this morning and asked me to check my line. My speed was fine and they assured me that it will stay that way. I didn't ask for the technical details - was only to happy to have my problem sorted!

Well, my brother has Mweb and he has been complaining for the last week. He is currently downloading at 12k on his 384k account! We tested it with an openweb account and he gets almost 35k+

I'm getting the same with my 384K Mweb account.

I'm getting 9kB/s on a MWEB 384k, which I have been testing on my 4MB line.

I phoned MWeb twice, and they told me that they not shaping at all off peak, and then the other guy told me that peak is not determined by time, but by download trafic.
The first guy went on to try speed tests... and it was clear they couldnt give a solution to the problem.

When I switch to my one 6GB account while on the phone the P2P download speed went up to 400kB/s, so the line is good.

Hi guys,
Got my uncapped account last week Friday and was REALLY dissapointed in the speed I got over the weekend, and also through the week.
Just got on this thread and saw most of you guys are olso struggling this mweb speed.
My speed is as follows:
Direct Download : 10-30 Kbps (Max with DAP) But the problem is that it crashes after 10 - 20MB (of a 350MB file) and have to restart but it keeps happening. No matter what time I try.
Torrent : 1 - 5 Kbps Through day and night.
Torrent : 20 - 25 Kbps Early morning hours.
My main problem though is that I can't do browsing, my browser crashes ever few minutes? any one else with this problem?

Hey what about http downloading speed (Forget RS/MU)? Is it not at full speed all the time? If so, I will not consider getting this 384K uncapped.
