Hi MWEB Guy

I'm getting slow YouTube streaming amongst other streaming services since yesterday.

Good Morning, are you only having trouble with streaming?

How are you connecting, via cable or wirelessly?

Slow downloads too. 22kb/s max across any device. Yesterday it took me 2 hours to download a PS3 update that would download under an hour on 384. I tried both wired and wireless. Tried changing routers and it's the same issue. I can't even game online with MoH Warfighter which I only got on Friday afternoon.

How many active devices are on your network?

Please provide me tracers to bbc.co.uk and mweb.co.za

Just my PC. I switched my phones WI-FI off because 3G was faster.

The latency on the second hop is quiet a big increase from the first. Please provide me speed test results with no active traffic in the back ground.

Good MOrning, I have escalated your query to our support team for some assistance. I await there feedback.

How did you do that? I did not give you cust no. domain name etc.

I just upgraded my Mweb account from 1mb to 2mb and to be honest the speed has degraded badly, when i call their helpdesk, all they say is speedtest.net results are within range so there is nothing they can do further. In the past i could p2p, vpn into work and play online at the same time, no problem, now only one device can be connected at a time without major delays. I have tried more than one pc, reloaded OS, different routers, which i have hard reset over and over, still no joy. (ping in games goes to 1000+ with no other traffic in background)

What could cause this? As i said speedtest.net results all within range, but general lag and ability of line to handle traffic that my 1mb line handled fine, just doesnt seem right. Mweb says if i want them to log a call with telkom and they dont find a fault they will charge me? Should i try a different ISP? Get a 56k modem?

I think International has died...I use VisualRoute and traceroute is show about 400ms from here(CTN) to www.betanews.com. To CNN.com its about 350ms.

@@MWEBGuy...you aware of anything?

According to VisualRoute the best route to betanews.com is going via Mauritius -> London(UK) -> New York -> Washington and then some other inbetweeners.

I know in the states we can't do anything cos we don't contrl routing there but between here and UK? The trace struggles a bit - hits about 320ms RTT(Round Trip Time)

Me thinks something is wrong? Seacom again?

Like i now i was playing BF3 and had to log off so my gf could vpn into work without delays/lag etc, when i had 1mb acc i could play online and she could work no probs...

Hi

Please can you PM me your account info so I can look into this.

@bradlesliect - I'm not aware of any issues at the moment with any of the international links.

Hi MWEB Guy

I've had a perfect experience with MWEB uncapped for over a year. Browsing during the day was speedy and News downloads after hours maxed out my line 95% of the time. Even in the day the occasional download was 80+% of line speed.

The last few weeks everything has changed though. Browsing is slow and downloads hardly ever over 0.75Mbs on a 2Mbs line. I recently upgraded to 2Mbs but it seems to have made no difference at all. Problems started 2 weeks before that so its not the cause.

I was on 4Mbs stable about a year ago so I doubt its my line. SNR is in the 'great' range.

Are you aware of any issues that could caused this?

Thanks

Good Morning lestoran, please provide me your MWEWB account details via direct message and I will do the necessary troubleshooting with you.

Current speed on a 4mbps line...been like this for days now.

Hi straatkat

I can't see anything on the account or line that will make you get these speeds. I re-authed the account, power down the router for 30 minutes.

When you power the router up again, do a speed test with nothing running in the background.
