MOrning feo, what type of speeds are you obtaining on your downloads?

I used to get the same problem and that I why I jumped ship and moved over to TI.

BTW even Afrihost will give you better network service then what Mweb is currently offering. I heard that openweb is also good

Classic case you say? That's a nice why to describe Telkom exchanges Classic,Old,Ancient,Museum Pieces,wooden powered by hopes and dreams. And now they want to upgrade it to 20mb.......:wtf:
SA should stop saying we use ADSL it should be called Dial-up 2.0(1.5)
 
I'm currently on 4 mbit/s uncapped premium. Am I subsidizing the "normal" uncapped users, or what do I get for 50% higher subscription I pay/

If torrents (after hours) are crawling below 50kB/s on the premium account, the people on the "normal" account is probably getting close to zero? Or do they get similar?

Torrents speeds are impacted on by many things, such as peers and the speed the file is being shared at.
 
Well it was crawling at this speed from last night until this morning before I left for work.

At 4am there's no way I should be getting these speeds.

What type of download were you running at the time?

Can you also test later tonight and let me know if the speeds are similar?

Downloading an article from the News Demon NNTP server at 4am. My Telkom account averaged about 450kB/s on the same article and same server when I switched to it.

I will test and PM you later tonight.
 
I also moaned on here 2 months ago about my 4meg uncapped Mweb account t.

I was having issues with Netflix, hulu, iTunes Apple TV and YouTube streaming in particular. It would buffer for 5 minutes, I kid you not, and play for 1 minute and then buffer again.

My complaints were falling on deaf ears as Mweb thinks all is well on their network. Then the seacom thing happened and I decided to get a telkom Internet 4meg uncapped account. I also still have the Mweb one, just to compare.

Guys let me tell you, not only is the telkom one almost half the price of Mweb, but my torrents are running at 450kbps even during the day. Streaming is a breeze, even HD hulu. My brother was having the same issues with Mweb so I got him to switch to TI too and all his problems are fixed. He's on a 2meg telkom uncapped and it's streaming better than an Mweb 4meg account.

As you well know, torrents are not prioritised on our network...

This doesnt answer my question. Does the "premium 4mb uncapped" account have any benefit over the "low cost 4mb uncapped account" in terms of torrent download speeds?

There is a big difference leonb, the throttled account is not meant for any sort of bulk downloading.

Yes the shaped premium account does not provide you line speeds on your torrents, however in the late evenings the shaping does ease off.

We also offer the premium unshaped options that does not limit your speeds in any way.
 
Mr Mweb, is there any update on Telkom Adsl outage in edenvale? I see yesterday's outage was closed this morning at 7 and a new one opened at 8. If they leave this outage until Monday I'm going b to be lank psd.... Please could you check if there is an update, would be much appreciated.

I have just checked on my side and there are no updates.
I have been advised that any updates will be posted on the network notice page.
Drop me a PM with your preferred cell number and I will set up an SMS alert to notify you once it's resolved.

Connection in League of legends is dead.. Must be SEACOM again, my friends on afrihost and @tlantic are fine!
