Magically tonight (for the first time in about 2 weeks) i'm getting full line speed on the same torrent I was battling with. Has anything changed on the network Mweb?

Telkom replaced all the cables and boxes between my house and the dslam this week (well the above ground stuff this week, the underground stuff the last few weeks) so everything should be nice and new and stable. Yet Mweb seems to be down again. What a waste.

Hi reactor_sa

I checked your account and I see that you are connected at the moment.
It seems there is actually a Telkom outage in your area which is probably why you could not connect earlier.

Is it me or are the YouTube issues starting again? I can't stream 480p without it freezing at the 2 second mark and then taking like 30 seconds to buffer the next 2 seconds?

Youtube is also useless on my side

It's connected, but I can't get a single complete trace to anywhere.
I don't know if it is Mweb or Telkom.

I have been having problems for months! I have canceled and moving to Afrihost, been using both accounts on the same ADSL line for a while and the Afrihost account out performs the Mweb one every time.

Like tonight latency is over 300ms to JHB on Mweb, but 47ms to the same server on Afrihost..... (mweb speedtest server in JHB)

I am tired of complaining about Mweb now, Just a pity there is this bladdy 30 days calender notice Sh*t!!! Other wise I would move tomorrow.......

I also tried playing a 360p youtube video on mweb it buffered like hell and then dropped to 144p.

I opened the exact same URL using Afrihost I could stream at 1080p with no buffering, I fell of my chair

Try force your router to sync using G.DMT (G.Lite) Modulation instead of ADSL2+. Sometimes is helps on bad lines.........

Everything was working until Telkom replaced all the cables today. Every house in my street got new cables to the house, new boxes on the poles, etc. The line does sync at the correct speed and the stats are fine. Just looks like timeouts and packet loss.

I had the same problem at home, cables were replaced and my line was crossed with some else's (fixed now) and G.DMT modulation was the only thing that worked for me at the time......

Slow, slow, and slow again. I had a mweb tech phone me yesterday, and all he does is agree with me, but I still have the problems, and no solutions. This has been going on for months, switch to my WebAfrica or Afrihost accounts and everything flys. Mweb seem to be having issues that they refuse to admit.

Is MEB CEO, Derek Hershaw aware of these problems? Or does he think it's all roses and sunshine on the network service he provides?

The problem is, it's a handful of customers that are having issues. If it was everyone, there would be a more simple approach to fixing it but to try isolate what the few customers issues are and why they are experiencing it must be a ballache of note.

I disagree. Majority of customers are having issues I bet. Just a pity not ALL of them post on here.

Look at this thread...516 pages of of mostly complaints.

Morning, that certainly looks like a classic case of congestion....

I'm currently on 4 mbit/s uncapped premium. Am I subsidizing the "normal" uncapped users, or what do I get for 50% higher subscription I pay/

If torrents (after hours) are crawling below 50kB/s on the premium account, the people on the "normal" account is probably getting close to zero? Or do they get similar?
