MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Getting ready to cancel MWEB. "Premium" Uncapped 2Mbps line that kept disconnecting. Worst part, it wasn't even for downloads, I had code to commit. Used free FNB data, and no problems.

Recommendations anyone? OpenWeb Gold costs a bit more, but is it worth it? Otherwise I'm probably heading to Afrihost.

Could always check there feedback pages on mybroadband I'm sure they'll be able to tell you. I think I'm gonna go Afrihost Business account or maybe Openweb Gold. When your at the bottom there's nowhere to go but up i guess :p

Good Morning tohir, your account does show allot of disconnections for yesterday.

Router disconnections are seldom caused by the isp you are connecting wiith, it is more likely to be your hardware or the line itself.

Do you have any noise on your telephone line? Do you have filters on all points being plugged into your wall jacks?

Flojo, your overall usage does not seem that bad (124gig thus far). You also moved 6.8gig yesterday with your 1MB account.

Please note that Torrent speeds are not guaranteed as there are many factors that can impact on the speeds. We also give torrent traffic a very low priority on our network.

Anybody else experiencing latency today on mweb?

Pinging 8.8.8.8 gives me 500ms constantly
 
Line was completely dead for about 15 minutes at 3PM and now is only working at about 65% of it's normal speed. Get your act together M-Web.
 
I finally got my "goodbye" email from mweb. YAY!

Please do not delete this reference number from the subject line (which is mweb-cancellation.pdf] ) in this email.

We will deal with the request (in line with our product terms and conditions), as soon as possible and send confirmation via your preferred method of communication as selected in the form, providing we have a fully completed cancellations form. Should your account be registered in the business name, also provide us with the company letterhead and a detailed cancellation instruction from the primary contact person as registered for this account, as well as a copy of his/her ID.

The twist is they told us on the phone about the company letterhead but nothing was said about the ID document. I suppose one should expect that by now.

Anyway, the good news is there are indeed other providers out there that give better than 0.5k on torrents. Since I still have a full month on this dreadful mweb account, I've been switching between them and two other providers I signed with. It's like day and night!

Like leonb, I can also get about 0kb/s on torrents and on my 2Mb connection (I'm looking at it now), I'm getting 183kB/s with another company.

And MwebGuy, please don't say again you throttle torrents - 0kb/s is not throttling it's just plain dead. Simple as that.

I have stopped using torrents because of this very reason, on both my unshaped and shaped account torrents are a no go......

Hey Mweb Guy, it normalized at about 5am, about to log back ingame now, hopefully it's still fine. Have a horrible feeling it's going to bug out round about the same time tonight though :( Hope not.

My P2P speeds seem unaffected by my latency (1mbsp package on 2mbps line)

Last Result:
Download Speed: 1404 kbps (175.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 431 kbps (53.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 19 ms

So yesterday for a popular NZB I was getting 30KB/s. Will check to see what I can get today. I just know that normally I get full line speed.

My line is totally dead???

My internet light on my modem is now red??

Please help me urgently dude as my assignments are due on Thursday and I need the net for them???
 
Having the same problem at the moment. Internet light also red, managed to get it back but just suffered another disconnection. Managed to get it to respond by slapping in the guest account from telkom and then switching back to MWEB. Webpages immediately timeout (local and international).

Complimentary tracert (which for once looks normal, telkom were useless with sorting out the overcongestion).

Getting terrible spikes while gaming playing DOTA 2. Only one on servers to be spiking so severely. Ping goes from 30ms to 1250ms. As MWEB is the one hosting the servers (for South Africa) I find that should be the least likely issue. However, it's been a ****ty connection for the past days doing this. Streaming, downloads, etc. all stuttering and under-performing severely.

Please advise on what needs to be done to resolve/show issues.

After 23:00 like clockwork every night Online gaming impossible but my torrents fly **scratching head** and no there weren't anything running as i did the test.
 
Have you tried with any other account? I still say going by that second hop, it's your exchange acting funky.
