The tracer seems to be ok, I will test at our test bench as soon as I have a chance...

Anyone having trouble in Durban tonight? My friend and I are both having issues. My Youtube was really laggy and we both played a game of League of legends and it was really lagging for some reason....

Evening, Have you been contacted by Business support as yet?

they contacted me, tested all the lines, couldnt get the problem, logged a call with 2nd tier engineers, Couldnt get more than 1 meg out of any of those lines, PLugged each of those lines into an IS package, got 6Meg outta each of them seperately, so Its defnitely not the lines that poked.

Just musing, but surely the fact of the 1mbps - 2mbps upgrades must have decreased the available 'pool' of MWEB bandwidth to some degree?

Actually, you got me thinking about something.

Obviously ISP's do not have completely unlimited bandwidth to dish out to their customers, as they get more subscriptions, the more they have to purchase in order to keep a little room for error.

Now, with the latest upgrade of 1-2mb and the upcoming 384k-1mb, that is a huge amount of extra bandwidth needed - meaning additional overheads etc. for the ISP's.

If it's "not something we have to worry about", that tells me that MWeb has made provisions ahead of time to cater for this, quite likely by acquiring a larger "pool" of bandwidth. Which is good - it means that, in theory, the contention ratio on MWeb accounts would be more or less the same (if not better?). But obviously this would come at a price - hence the higher cost of the 2mb accounts, compared to other ISP's.

Makes me wonder how/why there are cheaper alternatives... :erm:

Also just "musing" though... Maybe MWeb Guy could shed more light on my theory when he isn't swamped with our questions ;)

bek, hou.

If you have a question or need assistance, a bit of decency goes a long way.

As copacetic said, you are not being very constructive. There is an issue, it has been noted and is being attended to.

If are able to snap your fingers and magically fix everything, apply for a job at MWeb and work your magic there.

Since we live in the real world, be polite, please.

Hi there,

Just to confirm my side with an MWEB account is also not working correctly; downloading @ 30KB/s (on 2Mbit line and ISP account) and cannot stream anything; local is also very shaky jumping between 50 and 80; doesn't seem to be congested exchange (latency to local exchange is perfect). Latency overall is perfectly fine, just data throughput is very slow (maybe someone accidentally left uber-throttling on :p). Just thought I would throw my cents into the jar as well and also inform MWEB-Guy and MWEB that there seems to be a problem; connecting from Parow (Cape Town area) btw.

Hmm, def something not lekker tonight - usually get a steady 3.2 on SpeedTest (too lazy to chase Telkom to see if I can better speed than this on the line level) but tonight is slooow - D3 unplayable lag - Linux SystemRescue ISO from Sourceforge crawling along (slow as molasses - 32k) - rebooted router, all that stuff

Same as me (and Im in EL)

Been a long time since I have had to post in the MWEB thread. +1 for lagginess. Guild Wars 2 is bearable but just only and even my usual streaming from online radio is choppy. Hell, I normally even run downloads at half line speed and can't even do that tonight!

CPT subscriber here, line is 2MB but still using 1MB account. Fix please?
