It's not that they can't. It's that they won't. They couldn't have calculated the 3% figure without them. Unless the 3% was the lie...

For those wondering if Steam downloads from mweb content servers affect your AUP, here's MWeb's response:
"Hi Vigour, you certainly are allowed to download from steam, if you hit excessive usage then your account will be slowed down."

After that "automated" response, I cancelled my account.

Just one game like shogun 2 will rake in a 32gb download. lol.

You'd obviously download more if you are keeping up with the MP trend of your friends and others...

32GB is less than 10% of a monthly download so your argument is still moot unless you're downloading your entire library each month which is a bit doff. I recently took up WoW again and have subsequently had to download the installer twice as I chose the US one first by mistake. That was about 40GB.

Its just an example of a usage of a game to play MP with a person by a person in a house. I don't don't see the argument

I'm in Durban and seem to be having a problem connecting to Steam, Uplay (Ubisoft) and Youtube. Pings to Youtube and and ubisoft time out. Pings to local sites are pretty high.

Bull**** baffles brains!!

Mweb is the only ISP I have ever used. My highest usage in the last 12 months was around 107 GB - June 2013. Now what is the MWEB GUY talking about!! Average for the last 12 months 46GB. Huh?? Don't lie to your subscribers.

Mweb getting ripped a new one here. And deservedly so it seems. Well done guys, consumer activism FTW!

I think that's one of the core functions of this forum. To give people a platform regardless of whether their service is good or crap.

I sometimes find it comforting to compare even that low usage cost vs the cost of that over 3G.

Oh well my steam has run out, as if anything we say here will have any effect until MWeb starts feeling it on a noticeable scale. Forget logic people, it will only work on someone who does not have all the control and actually cares what we minions think, nevermind the long-term damage this and all the other miss-steps has done to MWeb's name... I have decided that I myself will stop stressing, if a company wants to lie to my face or even belittle my intelligence outright... whatever, no one else's opinion is my problem.

@MWeb Guy
Whether you are even a single individual or not, whether you had any real part in this way of implementing new policy or not, I forgive you. You are stuck in a really really horrible job situation after all and I hope you take all my blustering and small outbursts as the emotional and hurt reaction it was and hold no ill feelings towards me. I tend to explode when it seems as if someone is snobbily talking down to me and making false blanket accusations in my direction as if I am scum... mostly the condescending tone of the horrid generic email started me off on that path and your continual company line copypasta cemented it. Anyway whatever, I'm moving on emotionally if nothing else.... just don't expect ANY more loyalty towards MWeb from me EVER again. I have been "managed" for long enough thank you very much.

You forgot to sign it "South African consumer".

This is probably the first time I'm upset with something MWEB has done or said, since I signed up.

I used to be able to tell people that I'm with MWEB, and feel proud of that fact, even if they ask "But aren't you paying more than me?" - I can reply with "Yeah, but MWEB doesn't care how much I use, no throttling, no windows, nada."

I'll keep this in my signature for a week or so, but after that I'm going to have to find someone else to promote..

( I have not been given one of these warning mails, though I believe that if MWEB lose that 3%, I will be in the next 3%, or the one following that. Solidarity, brothers! )

Kindly provide us these limits. You keep on saying keep withing the limits, but you forget to give us the limits.

If you need an example this might help:

Package: Uncapped 384kbps
6 hour limit in GB: 0.305
7 day limit in GB: 4.25

This will reset each 10 days.

Lets recap so far:

Mweb - Can't define out rolling windows
Web Africa - Limits Defined
Axxess - Limits Defined
Afrihost - Limits Defined
Isat - Limits Defined
WebNow - Limits Defined

Who is the cheapest out that list? I would imagine that MWeb manages their traffic closer to a fiscal scale than megabit scale.

Incredible how such a simple little gesture can completely ruin brand affinity and loyalty, huh? As easily as it is gained, is it lost.

Too many companies discount the impact of the internet, to their detriment. I'm addition, they overestimate their worth to consumers. Especially in an environment where details matter.

Good luck, MWEB. You made your bed...
