MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Hi TwilightWalker

Standard products are more affordable and aimed at the casual uncapped user, with a lower throttled rate.

Our premium products have more relaxed speed limits and these will only be applied when usage reaches levels which we deem to be abusive. The parameters for bandwidth management are more lenient on our Premium Products and will only affect a very small percentage of our customers.

How idiotic can Mweb be? What the fsuck does ""we deem abusive" mean, please be more specific or will that change from person to person. So if I only browsed and did very little downloads and some e-mails and reach a hefty 30-60 GB/ month and then decided to update my steam account software and that increase by data to 80-100 GB for the month I will be throttled as I am a compulsive abuser by your stupid AUP. The same if my average suddenly jumps from a 30GB up to 60GB?

FFS how can we not be given the real bandwidth we are allowed to use on the premium 4Mbps?

Kindly provide us these limits. You keep on saying keep withing the limits, but you forget to give us the limits.

If you need an example this might help:

Package: Uncapped 384kbps
6 hour limit in GB: 0.305
7 day limit in GB: 4.25

This will reset each 10 days.

Note: Failure to answer will only result in this message repeating.

Please stop referring to parameters for bandwidth management if you are not willing to disclose them.

Please stop asking users to reduce their usage if you're not prepared to disclose your bandwidth management parameters or limits.

Please stop referring to typical or normal usage if you're unwilling to expand on what atypical usage is.

Please stop ignoring questions posed because they're difficult to answer.

In short, please stop bullschitting people...

Hi mikef

I can't answer for what was discussed between yourself and the consultant however will say that MWEB has not given any thresholds.

From 1 September,MWEB will be enforcing the AUP.

I seem to remember a statement that all your calls are recorded?

That said would it be correct to conclude that the parameter MWEB is using to determine abuse is the quantum of data used on on a specified product and that this quantum differs between the standard uncapped and the premium uncapped. Or does this mean the only difference between standard and premium is the speed once throttled or possibly a combination of both?

If MWEB is going to enforce their AUP from 1 September does that mean anyone downloading illegal content will now be acted against?

Thanks for your response.

I think MWEB and mwebguy should be banned from mybb

Well, no. The more reps the better. But we need honesty, transparency and answering of important questions. Not selective answers based on lies from head office...

Your never gonna get that with mwebguy. His role on these forums is to lie and deceive people. He gets paid to do that by Mr Derek.

I don't believe his brief is to lie, in fact I imagine there are dire consequences for doing so. I believe that he is in a precarious situation where execs have made a business decision that makes his life difficult. They are also justifying such decisions with deceitful reasoning, which he has to perpetuate until their official position either changes, or the storm dies down and they no longer have to pretend to care...

Midnight hits and on the dot my speed is crawling both local and international.

I just battled for 5 minutes to load this page.

Now I don't know if a techie is testing out the throttling (although I didn't receive an email) but with the bandwidth management the end result is I don't know what the problem is. In the past only international have gone down with supposed ship anchor dragging but now for this first time local is crawling as well I wish they are transparent about these things.

Been like this for me for a long time. Speed and lag UP and DOWN continually. On an Openweb trial pure joy. Back to Mweb okish for about a 12 hour period and back to the dumps. I said it already they were fscking around with this new AUP throttling sytem already for months on a live system and thats where this "Refreshing your account" when you have slow speed came from which now lately changed to "congestion" on the Telkom network.

nope this local traffic crawling after midnight is a first and havent had issues with mweb before apart for the international cable breakages. I depend on Skype daily to the US at this time so I would know if something is up. I can only guess the techies are testing throttling.

Can any other Mweb users confirm?

Looks like the "testing" is over, my pings are back to normal (for now)

Edit: Yeah, spoke too soon on that one...

I started noticing issues the day before the storm broke... I didn't receive the letter but I have noticed packet loss on local, but not international. And my speedtest to mweb local is 1-2 mbps on a 4mbps line. Webafrica is full speed.

HI mister, send me a pm with a trace route to a local and international site

I'm not having an issue this morning... yet... besides which, it's easier to just dial up another isp than play diagnostic games. I want a connection that works all the time, and I am certainly not going to muck around trying to work out if I'm within your limits or rolling windows, or if the wind is blowing in the right direction.
