MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Right, can someone please get rid of the incompotent ****s at Telkom. I just came off the phone with one after logging a fault yesterday. (I managed to get hold of a neighbour's modem and hey my line still doesn't work.)

This "technician" asks me if my line is working, so I tell him no. He then asks me about my modem and what lights are on there. I tell him my DSL light is orange indicating a sync but no connection - it should be green to indicate an active internet connection. I then proceed to tell him that I have the Telkom guest account (guest@telkomadsl | guest) in my modem. He then goes on and tells me I should phone my ISP because I don't have an internet connection. This goes forth 2-3 times of me telling him I have the TELKOM GUEST ACCOUNT in my modem details - I even rechecked that they were correct whilst we were on the phone and no new development took place.

Eventually I just told him, "I'll phone my ISP, goodbye," and I put the phone down. I now get a SMS to say my issue has been resolved, to which it hasn't.

So @MWEB Guy, what must I do now? To put it simply, my line is sync'ed, but there is no authentication taking place whether with my MWEB account or the Telkom guest account.

Sounds like your traffic is being stopped at the exchange that does. All you can do is keep phoning Telkom and hope you get through to someone that knows what's up and sends a tech out. I know the frustration, been there done that. Just keep at them :/

Hi XennoX

It could be a line issue, seeing that you are also testing with a different router. I will log a technical specialist call back for you for them to first see what they can do before logging an ADSL line fault.

Okay just received a call from the tech guy @ MWEB. So we will see what happens.

Just a note MWEB Guy, the number xxxxxxx8470 the guy called me from is a pretty choppy line. Near the end of the call I could barely hear the guy, it was almost as if he was on a cellphone and the call was breaking up.

Well I did a survey and was asked nicely if I would do a speed test... Sooo..

Pretty much right on the money doing international speedtest I guess. Upload is usually around 50KB's though. But overall. Doing good =]

Some International sites not loading (but it's intermittent) ....... anyone else?

Hummercellc, various members will experiencing slow international browsing and email as mentioned in the outage. I will ask onec this is resolved to do the test I asked earlier again and let me know if you are still experiencing the same as before.

It will be difficult to test anything now due to the current outage.

Hey Mweb guy...

Looking to jump from your 1 meg to 2 meg but my line is fairly cr@p(Telkom had it syncing at 1.5meg just asked them to move to 2) so was wondering if you could organise a test for me to see if it can handle it??

Thanks
Scotty

Hummercellc

Please can you do the test again and send me the results via PM.

Thank You.

Hi Scotty

The only way to test to see if it can handle it is if you upgrade the pacakge. You can always downgrade it again after that. With this, there is pro rata billing that applies.
