MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

MWEB Guy thanks for actually being here at 21:31 on a Friday night and taking all of the heat! :D

I think everyone's main problem is that there is no alternative to using the internet, other than having to buy bandwidth from another provider that has been able to manage the situation better and have a fail safe solution.
I'm lucky that I have a spare ADSL account on another ISP.

Yeah Alternate.. its been really hot in this kitchen today.... ;)

Point taken though...

Strangely, I have not noticed any problems?

Does the DBN POP route through a different cable or something? Because all international is flying on my end...

Evening Hummer, glad everything is fine on your side...

The outage should be affecting the entire network though... strange...

AFRIHOST SUCKS. Wait till they double deduct from your cc. Then demand you "email" them your credit card details (no they won't take it over the phone). Then when you refuse their "customer support" get all arrogant and sarcastic.

No thanks, after being with them for several years, sending many customers their way, spending many thousands of Rands with them, to be stuffed over for R100, I will never go near this bunch of goons again, even if they are the last to function.

And forget about Gian Visser giving a damn. Sorry no. I forwarded all the emails to him and he didn't respond at all. They have a lot of promises, but when all is said and they couldn't give a rat's @#$ about you, only your money.

Sorry for the rant, but that is what their customer disservice did to me.

Guys I understand that we are being affected by the outage more than some of the other providers at the moment.

There has been occasion's during this year and last year when we were not affected by outages and they were.

This is not something we like either and we will do all we can to get the network running as per normal as soon as we can.

Correct! Will be staying with MWeb.
Thank god for FNB's free data thou :)

Sucks for you. The reality of Afrihost is that they have the best value for money in SA right now. R897 including line rental for 4Mbps Business Uncapped is the boss. Lenient to no shaping after hours, totally unshaped during office hours, priority customer support, the best website and line management facility in the game, and a rolling threshold high enough to only bother very heavy downloaders (over 700GB a month) is far superior to Mweb's Premium Uncapped. And they only accept credit card details through their website, as with debit order, as all orders are placed through their website.

Good for you. Wait until THEY make a mistake and then give you the finger. (I last tried their uncapped last year, and it was pathetic - they shifted me onto IS and then had no solutions) - MWEB uncapped really worked. Anyway my problem was their customer dis-service. I would rather pay more to deal with polite efficient personnel.

Outage? What outage? Running torrents at 420kbps on 4mb line, so glad Telkom isnt with Seacom.

My P2P is cruising at up to 42 KB/s on Mweb, but I can't even receive email or open Google. I'm on FNB's free 2 GB for now (Afrihost won't even authenticate for me ) and hoping Mweb's speed picks up ASAP. My 2 GB is almost finished, and I'm really holding back...

Just tried, 100-300kb/s from US now. But it's unsteady.. must be the motion of the ocean!

For the record, and I'm just posting this so nobody gets the wrong idea.

I'm not angry witH MWEB Guy, I have no gripes with him, he's been very helpful since I signed up.

My gripe is simply that MWEB don't have backup capacity that can sustain email and basic needs. Fortunately I wasn't at work today, we're closed - but we'd have a big fsckup if we were open and I think MWEB would be better with some sort of automated backup system that did have enough bandwidth for email + basics.

Just my 2c

Ok, some sites load, others dont at all. Good thing I wasn't home until 10 30pm this evening otherwise I'd be yelling like the rest here. But tomorrow..... better be fixed when I wake up otherwise it will be another cross next to mweb for a rock start to 2013....
