Your trace routes show that the latency increses on the 2nd hop. This normally indicates that the problem is closer to the remote end.

This is also an indication of possible congestion.

What are your speeds test results?

Having an issue on MWEB in SW.

There is definitely an issue in S/W.

speedtests below. The question is is it in my area or at the IPC?

/\ 10Meg account with Afrihost. Ive tried other accounts as well, no change. The fault has been reported.

My speedtests show about 400kbps down for both, faster up for local and about 320 kbps up for international.

Telkom why can't you shoe realtime network info?

Telkom why can't you shoe realtime network info?

Please see the inbox message I have sent you

My connection has been very flakey since the outage - losing connection every few minutes.

Evening, is your router disconnecting by itself?

Is there any noise on your telephone line?

Restarted with Telkom test details you gave me and after the initial trouble getting connected to SAIX, eventually had these results:

T test
Last Result:
Download Speed: 1191 kbps (148.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 417 kbps (52.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 107 ms
4/21/2013 8:43:47 PM

Rosebank
Last Result:
Download Speed: 850 kbps (106.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 417 kbps (52.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 131 ms
4/21/2013 8:41:41 PM

Durban
Last Result:
Download Speed: 1170 kbps (146.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 417 kbps (52.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 130 ms
4/21/2013 8:42:56 PM

Then went back to MWEB details and:
CT again
Last Result:
Download Speed: 1281 kbps (160.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 411 kbps (51.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 109 ms
4/21/2013 8:47:37 PM

JB
Last Result:
Download Speed: 953 kbps (119.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 406 kbps (50.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 132 ms
4/21/2013 8:48:30 PM

But still not getting good video throughput on ondemand, youtube or the international sites I am trying to use. Thus it is highly unlikely all of them are experiencing heavy load simultaneously. Watching the throughput on my router it seems to be cut back to 500kbps ish

Adsl stays up, link goes down - I see a lot of my clients routers around the country are doing the same so it's not my hardware.

Its unlikely that its the account.

Please check if there is any noise on your line.

These results show that there may be something wrong at your exchange. I would suggest referring to Telkom

Strange, since it seems there are a number of other people not on my exchange that are having the same problem. I therefore suggest you speak to Telkom to ascertain the reason for what appears to be a fairly widespread issue.

We can log a fault, however the more faults that are logged the easier it is to get Telkom to resolve the problem.

Therefore, please log a fault with Telkom.

I am having intermittent access to International sites. I am based in Equestria, Pretoria East.

As per the MWeb website there is apparently an ADSL issue with Pretoria. Can someone confirm this?

Thank you.

I have been trying to, but having trouble with their system, so not sure if it has gone through. If I don't get the SMS in the next hour I will try again.

Evening, we only logged faults with Telkom and put it on our notice board if we obtain numerous complaints from the area

On my side I'm having dns issues. DSL light not going on. Modem I'm using is linksys x3000. Just thought I'd report it here and call it an early night.
