MWEB is making me hate the internet
No streaming, poor ping speeds for gaming and even browsing is a issue, been like this for last 2 weeks now
Is Telkom/Afrihost better at the moment, don't wanna go through all the hassle really to cancel but this is just not funny anymore
Mweb, you're truelly terrible. Things have always been sour with you. Telkom's speeds are perfect. The only reason i left is because they charged way too much (they still do) and you guys had just introduced uncapped wich was a big hit and at R200 a month, me like many others, had nothing to lose. Now i am stuck with your ridiculous service.
The only way to fix the internet connection is by calling Telkom to do yet another port reset. If i don't jump ship now, this will be a daily routine. There's an internet cut off 24/7 . I'm not the only one experiencing this so it's not my line and OpenWeb and Telkom are working perfectly fine.
This is not service. This is not internet access.

Question
My setup at home requires me to have a specific DNS server set on the router itself but for my PC, I want to manually use the MWEB DNS so that it pull stuff like Windows updates and Youtube videos from local ZA cache, what IP address do I use for MWEB's DNS server and how often does this address change, if at all?
Hi feo
When connecting with an MWEB account, your setup should obtain the DNS's automatically. If you going to assign DNS's then certain services is not going to work to its optimum. You will then be pulling updates from a different server as to pulling from MWEB.
Your IP address is dynamic and this can change sometimes when rebooting the router or in different ways.
You'll need to look into our Fixed IP Business packages if you looking for a static IP address: http://ow.ly/lkSMF
I use an alternate DNS to access certain services on my media player in my lounge, but since the player doesn't allow manual DNS server editing on the media player itself, I'm forced to put in that DNS server in the router itself. Problem then, is that ALL other devices on my home network (wired or wifi) go through that DNS.
This is fine for me, except on my PC where I'd like to use MWEB local DNS servers. Is there no easy way to do this?
EDIT. I'm not sure where static IPs come into the picture, I'm a bit of a network n00b.
