MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

Done and dusted

Already cancelled a few days ago and are sure to suggest to all my friends that they do the same. This whole saga has been very disappointing. Mweb had gained my trust over the last year or so but unfortunately they have now lost it again. In saying that, Mweb can enforce what ever they want to, they are entitled to, the same way as we have the freedom of choice and can vote with our feet.

Farewell Mweb, let us know when you value your customers again and maybe I will give you a third chance.

Yeah I think Im cancelling with Mweb. After receiving this email about excessive downloading and such. I think Im done. When I do download 24/7 it's maybe for a day or two. BUT I also limit my speed whenever possible, so on my 1Mbit line I rarely even download at full speed until late at like 10PM because I limit the speed I download at.

The only time I can't always limit what i download is downloading with steam. I've tried the speed limiter. But it does more than limit. It just doesn't work for me. It either limits it so bad that it takes days and days to download something, or it just doesn't limit it at all. So all in all. Yes I download games. But I hardly ever do since I rarely ever have money to buy one. In the past 3 months, I've maybe downloaded 4 large games? 10 all together (rest are small) Which all were given to me as gifts on steam. In total they add to maybe 28GB's at most?

So unless things change, I think Im very likely to cancel with Mweb. Im tired of this nonsense. If I could leave this country I would have left years ago just because of the internet nonsense we all have to put up with.

I have been saying this for years...

Naspers is wanting to take over from telkom in being the big bad monopoly of tv, movies and the internet here in SA.
I can see naspers buying telkom, being handed the keys to the SAFirewall and then they are really going to turn the screws.
Naspers is ****ting bricks that not everyone is falling for their flashy adverts and propaganda.
No matter how hard you try to mask your intentions, trying to control the internet is something that will always get out and be attacked by free citizens.

MrBeep from Openweb has been responsive and shown me the right sort of things I want from an ISP (cheaper than Mweb, explicitly states that there is no monitoring of uncapped accounts and it is really subject to how much usage there is on the network - these are terms I can accept and if I want more consistent speed then I can always upgrade). It seems like Openweb is more open about how things are done. I'm ready to move seeing as Mweb has essentially told me I'm not valued as a client (even though Mweb is expensive in the market and I thought I was paying more for a better service......)

I agree - Openweb for me too

I was with openweb. But I got tired of their service. They started out great for me. But after a few months their service went down so badly. So I switch to Mweb =\ Now Im not sure where to turn to..

I've got 65 GB average monthly usage on 1MB premium over the last year. No letter or previous warnings. Where is this warning letter getting sent to? MWEB email or billing email?

Good Day, the emails were sent to the MWEB email address linked to the account.

If you did not receive it, you are within acceptable usage parameters and it won't be affecting you as yet.

Thanks. Logged in for the first time in months and nothing. Maybe you guys should send client communication to the billing email instead (or in addition to just MWEB email)? I just assumed no warnings since I got nothing on my billing email address.

The system does not allow for this at the moment, you will be able to enable mail forwarding via My account to your billing email address though.

Sneaky wording that! So they won't be affected this round as it seems over 100GB is excessive, but watch out, next round guys over 60GB might be seen as excessive

LOL... you never know, once all the abusers have reelled themselves in the thresholds may increase ;)

No not true. The Mweb idiots will just run a huge promotion to sell the bandwidth to hundreds more customers to be defrauded from what they should get for their money. Funny for years I believed Mweb changed but it seems a leopard never really lose their spots. They just get old and dilapidated like Mweb.

Good Day, The Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) outlines these rules and guidelines for fair network use. It also explains what steps we may take to limit the impact that a customer behaving in an abusive manner can have on the entire network.

We are in the process of updating all of our marketing material to reflect the change and thanks very much for pointing out the Facebook reference.

We will notify our marketing team and make sure they include it in the material that needs updating

Fsking liers!

Good riddance to M-Web. Happy NOT to be a customer any more :)
Found their letters, vague, threatening, unspecific and annoying.

I am all for rooting out the the major abusers, as they no doubt impact on the internet speed of the rest of us. I am just amused by the way this was handled. Bit of a PR disaster this Mweb.

FYI, this is the answer I got:

"Hi hr7140

I had a look at your usage and don't see any issue with it and therefore you should not worry about the mailer sent. If you usage patterns do change after the 1 September and you become a power user then it will apply to you.

You can take the mailer merely as an FYI going forward. "

I actually expected something resembling an apology, instead got something that still almost resembles a threat.

I don't understand how they can still be calling their products uncapped, when clearly it is not.

Whoever remains with mweb will, i guarantee, be checking their usage constantly from now on.

Which is really stupid and defeats the purpose of an uncapped account.

And what are we supposed to look out for in the first place, seeing as they are either incapable or just don't wanna tell us what the limit is.

So what we will have to do is use the internet and when we get throttled, we can all go whoops guess I went over!

This is pathetic and unacceptable.

Interesting. Mwebguy stated here blatantly that ONLY abusers got the threat, now what? It clearly shows they are lying through their teeth.

Hey seriously, we are referring this to marketing to verify regarding these anomalies.
