MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

I wasn't even aware I was an "abuser" until I received the email. Silly me for thinking uncapped actually means uncapped.

There I was using my uncapped account like I thought it should/could be used.

Then I receive this email which says, and I'm paraphrasing. "You better stop what you are doing buddy or we will throttle you." Again I didnt know I was doing anything wrong. This is pathetic and unacceptable, surely mweb cannot get away with this?!

Just so you guys know, those that have switched to the R29 1 gig service. You cannot be put on ITC if the amount owing is under R100.00.

I am going this route today and I will not pay anything until I get a summons from them. Of course they first have to prove that I am still living at the address given to them. I will make it my mission to make them chase me for a measly R29. Petty? yes of course it is, but I am pissed off and pissed of people do petty things.

Good Day, I understand that we made the statement we would not throttle. The throttling being put in place on the shaping premium product, will only affect the clients abusing our network. If you stay within acceptable parameters, this will not affect you.

Our premium products have more relaxed speed limits and these will only be applied when usage reaches levels which we deem to be abusive. The parameters for bandwidth management are more lenient on our Premium Products and will only affect a very small percentage of our customers.

WHAT ARE THE FREAKING ACCEPTABLE PARAMETERS????????????
ATLEAST GIVE US A DAMN GUIDELINE!!!!!!!
IF I WERE YOU, I WOULD SAY THE FOLLOWING:

1MB - 250GIGS
2MB - 350GIGS
4MB - 550GIGS
10MB - 650GIGS

YES, THE ABOVE "MIGHT" SEEM OFF, BUT ATLEAST ITS SOME SORT OF AN "ACCEPTABLE PARAMETER" THAT WE CAN USE AS GUIDELINES.......................

Just under a year ago.. Now this hypocritical company is going to shape and throttle

They the Mweb idiots don't care just as DSTV don't care as they will always have less technical savy consumers to bail them out, those who get 10Mbps to browse and check e-mails. I just wonder what their contention ratio is now?

What the idiots fail to realise is that when 200000 visitors on mybroadband tell just another 200000 consumers Mweb is the pits then they could calculate the real numbers in losses very easily. The forgot their fiasco a few years back. Why? because the now have an arse as CEO.

I believe this is the same fight i had with the abuse department, they refused to clarify anything. This is done purely to allow them to "apply" their discretion in throttling and punishing their own customers. I remember when i got my first abuse email, i had downloaded 400 gigs on my brand new 4meg account. A friend had been on the service for years and he regularly does 700+ gigs a month. So it all comes down to Mweb wanting the to ability to pick favourites and bully people they deem deserving. Looks to me like Mweb wants to play god with no repercussions.

I agree!

Good Morning Krypty, I can provide you the cancellation form via email if you require.

Standard cancellation process would apply, if you submit a cancellation request this month. Your account would be cancelled for the end of September.

I cancelled on 6/6 with last day of service being 30/06. I kept on mailing abuse@mweb, billing@mweb as well as sales@mweb.
Also revoked permission to debit my bank account, and then removed my banking details from their system. Give it a go, cancel NOW!

If they give the thresholds they can't call it uncapped :D

We are terribly sorry to see you wanting to leave MWEB.

We confirm receipt of your cancellation request, and your reference number is: [REF# 20130809001134 ].

Please do not delete this reference number from the subject line (which is Account cancellation] ) in this email.

We will deal with the request (in line with our product terms and conditions), as soon as possible and send confirmation via your preferred method of communication as selected in the form, providing we have a fully completed cancellations form. Should your account be registered in the business name, also provide us with the company letterhead and a detailed cancellation instruction from the primary contact person as registered for this account, as well as a copy of his/her ID.

Kind regards
MWEB Customer Care

So long.

My first abuse email I received after using ~555G during the 30 days before. The second 'warning' I received was 12 days later, on an average of 472G during the preceding 30 days.
The anomaly is that I've been above the second (lower threshold) 'warning' average for 18 days before the first warning. I've also already cancelled my account them.

Their is no logic, nor method in them applying their AUP. They are just taking pot shots in the dark!

Previously posted this, just re-asking since I'm quite interested in the answer..
@MWeb Guy, the content server for Steam most of us I'm sure is using, is a Mweb content server. About 95% of my internet usage per month, will be Steam games being downloaded. Does this still count towards your UAP since the traffic basically remain within the Mweb network?

Good Day ViGouR, I have raised this question as well.

Please send me your MWEB account details via private message and I will take this up with the relevant parties.

I'd like to know the answer to this as well. Steam game downloading was most of my traffic the last while. Still going... I can see Steam connects to a few MWEB servers, but not everything comes from them. I guess not all game content is synced to all servers.
