I have an Adsl account with cybersmart, and the line is through cybersmart.

Yip I did it...Im sick of all the problems with other isps ... Im a mweb guy now ...Today was the last straw... Couldnt connect to my 10mb account from yesterday ... still cant today. So I did it--- Changed to Mweb .. Please be better than the rest!
I'm on a 2mbps line now.
Can I upgrade my uncapped package right now, how will billing be affected, since this month is already paid for?
Are there any upgrade fees, downgrade fees?
Hi X-Gamer
yes you can upgrade now. The question is has your line been upgraded? Please provide me with your MWEB account details and I'll be able to look further into it for you.
The billing will be calculated on a pro-rata basis and no there is no fee to upgrade your MWEB account and the Telkom ADSL line speed upgrades are free.
Hi MWEB Guy
Did you get any reports of NNTP running slow?
HTTP seems fine, speedtest is fine. Just the news server is crawling
I signed up for Mweb 1 Mbps uncapped/shaped offer for R339 and finally got connected 21 August, the speed was dismal and under 400kbps. I called MWeb and complained, the technician was advised by his supervisor to tell me I could have the 1Mbps immediately if I was prepared to pay R488 otherwise I needed to wait for the Telkom upgrades and oops sorry we were meant to tell you when you signed up that you would have to wait but it must have slipped our minds, why not put a complaint in writing? 3 x written complaints to complaints @mweb.co.za and no human response just an automated response with a complaint number. Finally after I complained to "Hello Peter" I received the following answer:
Thank you for raising your concerns with us regarding the price and speed of the package you are currently on. I would like to take this opportunity and explain to you in the best way I can with regards to your concerns.
I listened to the call between ourself and our technical agent. He sent you information regarding the Telkom upgrades. I would like to expand on that a bit more. Telkom have scheduled upgrades for the up to 1Mb lines to the up to 2Mb line as of the 24th August. Once they have completed that phase of the upgrades, they will be upgrading the up to 384kbps lines to the up to 1Mb lines. Those upgrades are to start the beginning of October.
Regarding the price, the cost of the up to 1Mb All Inclusive package was R488 p/m. This was before the scheduled upgrades and our team looked into this and it was decided that the new cost of the up to 1Mb All Inclusive package would be R339 p/m. With that being said, the line is provisioned at the up to 384kbps in anticipation of the upgrades. Once the upgrades are completed, you will benefit from the up to 1Mb speeds.
I understand that it wasn't explained to you when signing up, I will follow up with out Sales team regarding this.
I hope things have been made a bit more clear. Please feel free to contact us regarding any further queries.
Kind regards
Ian Titus

What on earth is going on with Mweb? How can they advertise, sign people up for and charge for a package that they cannot supply? Why am I being penalised because Telkom have not yet completed the upgrades? Obviously I am not the only one to complain as I now notice a red banner and asterisk implying terms and conditions for that particular package has been added to the website. Very sneaky move, kind of locking the stable door after the horse has bolted? Shame on you MWeb, what a disappointing experience I have had with you, time to cancel my contract methinks.
