MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

average download speed is still averaging 10kbs
1 meg uncapped account was never like this before...
Is this still a seacom issue?

seriously its this same crap every 2nd week... Is this an Mweb problem or a Telkom one? or is this just because we live in a 3rd world country and should be grateful for what scraps of internet we get? The level of service atm is really ass. International is so slow it may as well be gone. P2P is dead. Hamachi is dead.

Can we please get some information on just what exactly is going on? and not some 'oh its cool just reset your router' bs.

Even WoW is laggy.

The same tragedy by me....no speed...greenside...JHB

Good Morning, I have no reported international outages for yesterday and this morning. Please let me know if you are still having issues with speeds and latency.

Why is the my adsl portal taking so long to update with the latest sessions? Its difficult to keep the abuse department happy if you cannot monitor your usage

Good Morning Lazy.Me, the best advise I can give you would be to use a 3rd party application to monitor your usage. Something like net-meter...

Would be nice of mweb could actually implement more detailed view instead of relying on the customer and available software to them.

Hi,

Just an update. My speeds are fine now. It seemed to be a short period of slower speeds. Thanks to MWEBs technical department for their patience with me moaning and giving me a reasonable explanation (overall network was busy hence my downloads had slowed to keep the network in a reasonable state).

what are nntp speeds like during the day?
sorry to spam

It depends on the server you use and your line (obviously). My speeds on astraweb vary from 90KB/s to 110KB/s (it sometimes spikes higher but its short spikes). Im on a 1Mb line from Mweb (My telkom adsl line speed is 2Mb). It does sometimes drop lower but thats rare. In general the speeds are very good.

NNTP Speeds were fine till about 8, and have now dropped back to around 100k on a 2meg line

EDIT: around 60 @10:30

Delayed Emails - MWEB SMTP Server.

Good morning,
Please investigate why my emails are taking more than 10 hours to deliver.
Current Setup:
  • Email Server Hosted by Hetzner™
  • Forced to use MWEB SMTP > smtp.mweb.co.za Port has been configured as 587
I sent 3 Test Emails, yesterday @ 15.33
  1. Gmail
  2. My Domain, hosted at Hetzner™
  3. My Other Company Mailserver - hosted at Internet Solutions
The delivery of aforementioned emails where done at 05.33 AM this morning.

I have called MWEB Call Centre.
Spoke to Isadore.
He told me to use smtpauth.mweb.co.za
I asked for a Ref# - he could not supply one, told me to use the email address
He was not able to track the email route, neither by destination - nor source address.

I have also experience a rather large amount of email timeouts this last few weeks. And now my p2p has dropped down again, not dead yet but 6KBps isnt exactly acceptable.

Hi Anthro

I will log a callback for a technical specialist to contact you regarding your concern.

Just switched over to Axxess (backup) this morning again because of consistent issues. Dropped connections to international sites being the main issue. I use software that sounds an alarm every time the connection drops.

I use MWEB uncapped as a default connection , normally quite reliable but last 2 weeks ...really crappy.

I am a financial trader and a reliable connection is not negotiable.

Seriously considering pulling the plug on MWEB and just buy 30 G/ month bandwidth from Axxes.

Hi trader1

I would like to look into why you are experiencing the dropped connections you are mentioning. Please PM me the MWEB account details so that I can look into this.

@MWEB Guy.

Please note the inbox I sent - the affected accounts are 7 Different Business accounts NOT my personal account with your Company

Youtube buffering is dying. I can buffer for abut 10 seconds then it dies completely and no more buffering is taking place.

Even downloading a video from Youtube times out after about 10 seconds.

Edit: Seems to be fine now.
