MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 2

MWEB Guy - I just returned to Mweb from Afrihost (Afrihost daytime speeds are terrible) - youtube buffers all the time - even 240p videos? Is that normal?

Thanks for the reply...but...

Your comment......" You managed to do 687.0gig last month."

Firstly, is this or is this not an "Uncapped account"? If it is an uncapped account, and you have cancelled my account, then you have falsely advertised and used the word "Uncapped", or would the ASA need to have a closer look at how you use the word "Uncapped"?

You are also evading the questions, please answer the following?

1. On your " MWEB ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY" please tell me exactly where you state what is the maximum allowed usage?

2. If the account is "Uncapped", isn't this false advertising?

3. What is the maximum allowed on an "uncapped" account?

4. How ethical is it to cut someone's account on a Friday afternoon after 16:00.

5. Is it not true that your "MWEB ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY" is written in such a vague manner that you can bend it to whatever way you want?

Please respond to each point.

I had issues with the abuse department a month ago, and i would love Mweb to respond to these questions. They say we must manage the account and downloads, but when we ask for guidelines to use, they cannot provide them, which makes managing the account kinda difficult.

Mweb please answer the above questions

What I also told you is that you managed to average 35gig during the week and that we can see the type of traffic you were moving. Technically you were maxing out your line with a shaped account.

There is only one way to max out your line in the way that you have and that is by bypassing our shaper. This in itself is grounds to be kicked off our network.

Good Morning Hxx, that is not normal at all.

I have changed a setting and re-authed your account. Please reboot your router for a minute and let me know if that makes a difference.

I have also noticed that your attenuation is on the high side; 55 dB. Perhaps you can have Telkom recreate your port as well.

@copacetic, how do you bypass a shaper?

I provided you way via inbox messaging, downloading via ssl.

mweb guy, please answer the questions point for point

We do not provide specific amounts of data that is acceptable to move on our uncapped shaped accounts.

You will also notice that we have different types of uncapped offerings, shaped and unshaped accounts. If you use a shaped account and bypass our shaping, you are in contravention of our AUP.

Friday is a working day and we do the warnings weekly. Looking at your usage patterns, it would not have mattered when we cut your account. We also did provide you 3 warnings before we did so.

BWAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAH Now, I understand what is wrong with MWEB...

Good Morning savage, please let me know if you require me to shed light on anything for you...

Dup. MWEB's bandwidth sucks so much right now I can't even do a forum post properly

Which MWEB account are you currently using. Please DM me the account details and I will look into this for you..

Fair Usage Policy

Mweb, I am confused !

I'm a little stupid as I only have two degrees, one of them in ICT and I work for a telco/ ISP. I like to think I am smart but after reading your policy I see that Uncapped in your definition means UNTIL MWEB decides your using to much! If I ever see that english teacher I hada gain, I'm gonna tell her she taught me the incorrect definitions to certain words.

Perhaps I should have studied law, but exactly how do you bypass your shaping if you won't define what actions constitute bypassing shaping?

Why can you not say what is too much downloading, that way I can ensure I don't make you fellows unhappy.

So I drive down the motorway, it says drive as fast as you like till a cop decides it is too fast. Which judge in any normal world will say to me in court that I exceeded an non defined speed limit?

Mweb, you really can't expect users not to want to use 'uncapped' and not tell them what the rules are so as to ensure they adhere to the rules surely?

I cannot join MWEB cause they won't even unofficially tell me the rules.

This is kaf·ka·esque, ah well let me pour another beer and watch 'Catch 22' and I am sure it will all makes sense after another beer or two.

Good Morning muggles_puppet, we do not provide a specific amount of data that is acceptable on our products.

The main point is simply, that shaped accounts will be managed by MWEB via our network manager. If clients use traffic that allow them to bypass our shaping, they are in contravention of our AUP. e.g, downloading via vpn, ssl, etc...

We also do have a 3 warning system in place, whereby we notify clients when their usage is flagged and they can liaise with our abuse department.

Bear in mind, that its only a small percentage of our network that ever get in trouble for abuse...

At this point I will follow the advise by Mark Twain.
